BPRD RPG - FAQ

Originally founded in the 1940’s to combat occult threats uncovered in operation’s against Nazi Germany during World War two. The BPRD played a key roll in the total collapse and failure of the Nazi party. Today, it is a unquestionable unparalleled elite security system professionally dedicated to preserving all that is free and good in humanity from evil.

BPRD takes place after the second Hellboy movie with a little fudging on our part and influences from the comics. The Golden Army was destroyed and the elven Prince Nuada was spared to return to his broken kingdom to amass a new army. With the Bureau growing every day and the Prince growing closer to his goal, can Hellboy and company with the help of Princess Nuala be strong enough this time around?

FAQ
Read through carefully, more then likely your question has been answered below. If you have a question, feel free to ask it!

What is BPRD?
BPRD is a Hellboy RPG set after the second movie with a little fudging on our part, allowing for several previously deceased characters to remain living. Nuada is rebuilding his army and the Bureau is struggling to maintain itself.

What’s the timeframe for this game?
Currently it is set in March of 2009, but it would be current. There are some missions that may take place in the past, but everything is labeled correctly.

Can I play a original/made up character?
Of course! You’re not forced to take on a canon character in order to play an original.

Why can’t I play (Insert banned race here)?
The staff have decided to not sentient animals, this includes fantasy races too. Sorry, but no Puff the Magic Dragon allowed.

How many characters can I play?
Currently three (3) characters per player. If you’re interested in a fourth, send a PM to Abe with your inquiry. The staff will discuss it and will get back to you as soon as possible.

Are you looking for new staff?
Not at this time. When and if the staff are looking to increase their numbers, please do not ask. We will search you out if we’re interested.

Can I play a Character from a movie/game/book?
Only Hellboy canon allowed. We allow movie, comic and cartoon. Abe is fluent in all.

Can I play a made up race?
Nope, sorry. There are literally hundreds of fantasy and supernatural races and things to play.

Can I play a demon/telepath/elemental/teletubby hybrid character?
No, this would be classified as godmoding. Pick one race and stick with it, half breeds will be carefully looked over.

What if my character doesn’t have flaws/weaknesses?
Then its best to leave right now before Evadne gets a hold of you… Run!

Does my character have to a BPRD Agent?
Not at all! In fact we encourage bad guys and we even allow characters that are unaffiliated with the Bureau and Nuada’s regiment.

Can I advertise my game?
Yes, we have a section specifically for that. You don’t need to sign up either to advertise, it’s open to guests.

I posted a new thread, how come no ones Role Playing with me?
It’s easy to say most players are already in threads of their own. You are free to start your own thread and you may get a bite, the staff try and make sure no one’s left out. But if you’re looking for someone to thread with, throw a request in the Planning Stage board. Surefire way to get your thread some attention.

What is a Mary Sue?
For those unfamiliar to that term, it is the perfect character, with no flaws, beautiful… everyone loves them and they make bad guys weep to be good. The kind of character that makes you roll your eyes or rub your forehead in weariness. The same kind that will get you laughed at.

What is BPRD's rating?
PG-13, we are going off the movies rating and we will not change it in any way.

What kind of writing level does BPRD have?
We are a free form intermediate game with all forms and sorts of writing. We have no post count but we do have a set standard. Just a quick read through posts on the board will tell you what we're looking for.
