Hello, I'm Mikey and I'm new 'round these parts. I've always tried to keep an eye out for Hellboy/BPRD RPs, being a huge fan of the comics, movies, and even the cartoons. Del Toro and Mignola are heroes of mine and I have a hetero man crush on Ron Perlman. So when I found this place and saw that Red was open, I jumped at the chance.
A little about me:
I'm a graphic design student with my eyes set on film school. I've been a nerd my whole life, and RPing in various forms for about 10 years now. Started with pen and paper D&D, progressed to irc chatroom based rp, and eventually made my way to forum based. I've done a bit of everything, from Star Wars to superheroes (DC and Marvel and Original), Vampires to mafia, and I've even run a Hellboy RP a couple of times, but they never really worked. People would always hesitate because they weren't familiar with the source material. Stinky...
My favorite and longest running 'verse to play in, though, is Joss Whedon's Firefly/Serenity. Been doing that obsessively for a long time now.
I generally yet to play interesting characters and cast them with people you wouldn't necessarily expect. If i'm RPing somewhere, chances are I either use Ron Perlman for a character or have thought about doing so. Pretty isn't good enough for me. My philosophy is that flaws make a character interesting. Because I am obsessed with film and new media and pop culture in general, I tend to think and write cinematically, with humor and badassery in plenty.
That's what I go for anyways.

Ron Perlman, I've been a fan of him ever since I was a wee little fan watching Beauty and the Beast. I've watched a lot of things with him in it, even Ice Pirates though I haven't been able to track down The Quest for Fire and Der Name der Rose. I love that man's work, his look and good lord his voice. My apologies I'll try not be all fangirly over him. I reserve that for friends that can't run away.
I also love Guillermo's work! Hellboy is like the ultimate movie of all my favorite things and people. Ron Perlman actor, Guillermo DelToro director, Mike Mignola comic book genius, the genre, the makeup, the passion... Doug Jones! The very first thing I saw of Guillermo's was Mimic and it creeped me the heck out, so I had to find more of his work. I love Cronos and also the fact Ron Perlman is also in it.
Did you ever run your Hellboy RPGs on yahoogroups? There were a few that popped up with the first movie but they all died relatively quick. I was apart of one run by Stuntman that ran for quite awhile before he had to close it. You really don't see Hellboy RPGs like you see X-Men or Harry Potter, those are a dime a dozen.
Anyways, enough ramblings from me! Welcome, welcome, I'm so glad you're interested in Red and that you've got a great passion for the works. We nerds need to stick together! Though I think I'm leaning more toward being a dork... *Waves Firefly flag*

Welcome! I just watched the Firefly series and Serenity today! (I have no life!!) And I would so let Mal use me in ways that are better not mentioned in a PG-13 RPG. ;D Anywho! Welcome and ignore the biznitchy characters cuz they... well they're just Frankie and Evadne. |
