OK so I got a couple of new books the other day and it just got me curious. What type of books do you like to read? Which authors are your favorites?? And lastly, what is your all time favorite book? I myself enjoy thriller/mysteries and I have lots of favorite authors. Hmmmm Patricia Cornwell, Johnathan Kellerman, Faye Kellerman, James Patterson - I could actually keep going on and on cuz I adore books. Though my all time favorite book ever is The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I've read it so many times that I've actually worn out a few books.

Presently, I am enjoying the Bloody Jack Adventure series by L.A. Meyer. There's five or six of the books out right now, and they're centered around Mary "Jacky" Faber who gets out of the slums of London by pretending to be a boy and signing on a British Navy Ship. They're a bit hard to understand at first because of the writing style, but it's the first favorite new series I've had in a long time.

Ooh, I read those books, Frankie! Just the second one, actually, but I greatly enjoyed it. :]
As for me, I love to read (surprise surprise!). As of right now, I'm reading the Ender saga by Orson Scott Card. It's a great series, and I highly recommend it. I also enjoyed the Hitchhiker's Guide series by Douglas Adams, as well as The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, although I can't remember the author of that one.

Way to represent the Orson Scott Card, 'Red! Which sequel set are you reading through? Shadows or the Speaker? I read a lot of science fiction: Asimov, Card, Isaacs, etc and have a penchant for post-apocalyptic distopia. I do read a variety of other books, though, and a multitude of comics. Currently I've just picked up Tolkien again and am re-reading through all of his works. My favorite book of all time, though, has to be The Plague by Camus.

-hi 5's Evadne- Jonathan Kellerman fans for the win! Man, I read so many books and genres, it'd be impossible for me to pinpoint one as my absolute favourite lol I'm into classic literature like Shakespeare, Dickens, Tennyson, T.S. Eliot; I've even read Romance of the Three Kingdoms - which I LOVED btw ;3 Right now though, I'd have to say my favourite authours are Martin Cruz Smith and James Rollins. I really can't decide between the two lol Smith does my Arkady Renko novels, but Rollins does the Sigma Force novels, my current favourite series. I reads dem over and over I do x3 REEEAAAD THEEEMMMM!! ...If you haven't ;P

Kate, since you like distopia type novels, I'd suggest you read The Handmaid's Tale if you haven't already. It's kinda messed up, but very well written!

Boooooooooooooks. I heart books!! I collect series that I really love. At first it was Stephan King and Anne Rice. Then i moved onto Tamora Pierce and her Tortall series, which i still follow. Currently I'm collecting Neil Gaiman's works. American Gods is great.
I'm waiting for Charlaine Harris's new Southern Vampire book.
YAY for OSC! I have all the Ender and Bean books. Those are the only ones i care for.
I really like anything by Amy Tan. Also if anyone hasn't read it, Snowflower and the Secret Fan is awesome. I had read Memoirs of a Geisha twice before it was popular.
I love booooks. I have a gift card for Borders I need to use. YAY!
I have a lot of reference books and just silly trivia books. Like Secret Lives of the Presidents and it sequal, Secret Lives of the First Ladies, Zombie Survival Guide, and a lot of comic books.
I have a lot of Get Fuzzy and Calvin and Hobbes books too ^___^

Jules - I've read Snowflower and the Secret Fan (more than once in fact) - it was really good. I want to get more of her books. Also Leon - I'm currently reading Compulsion by Jonathan Kellerman.... Have you read it? Tis awesome so far!! You know what I hate though is when they make movies from books and leave all the good stuff out. I'd read The Other Boleyn Girl several times before the friggin movie came out and I have to say I was more than disappointed by the movie. They left sooooooooo much out and added stuff that wasn't EVEN in the book. I was like WTF!

Well, I dont read a lot of books, but I must say there are quite a few that I LOVE. Ever since I was maybe.....four? I've adored Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. I remember when I was finally old enough to read a book like that, that was the first one I read ^_^ Then a few years later I discovered Through the Looking Glass and Sylvie and Bruno, still love them today. So over all Lewis Carroll is my favorite author, but there are some other ones. ( By the way I cannot WAIT Until Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie comes out ) ( Tim Burton = Favorite director ) ( Alice in Wonderland = Favorite book ) ( All those in one bundle of joy = My heart <3 ) ( Oh...I also love Master Card commercials [har har] ) Probably my favorite book besides Alice in Wonderland would be HERO by Perry Moore, but sadly he hasn't written any more than that :[ My idol is Neil Gaiman. Almost everything I love involves him, sometimes its quite creepy though Last but not least, I adore Stephen King. There's a long story behind why Im so attached to him, but over all I must say I love him to bits. My favorite books by him are The Shinning and The Mist So, in a nutshell thats my book life!

OMG OMG OMG PIERCE! PERRY MOORE IS WRITING A SECOND HERO BOOK! There's also talk of a possible movie and/or TV series deal! <3 and I love Neil Gaiman, too. :]
Kate, so far I've read Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead. I'm gonna start Xenocide soon, and then Children of the Mind, and then I'll go buy Ender's Shadow. I also heard they're making a movie about this one, too!
I LOVE zombie books. I've read Monster Island (GREAT book. You can actually read it online, because it was originally an online book. READ IT), Zombie Survival Guide, and World War Z (another one being made into a movie xD), and some others, but you guys are so awesome and have me all worked up and I can't remember them.
Also, Calvin and Hobbes FTW.
GREAT books, IMO: Lovely Bones (so sad ) Confessions of an Evil Stepsister (by the guy who wrote Wicked) I Am Legend (SO much better than the movie!) Soon I Will Be Invincible (superheros, ftw!) The Truth About Chuck Norris (Chuck Norris facts xD) The Gun Seller (by Hugh Laurie - yes, House) ANYTHING by Ray Bradbury, who is my hero (I recommend The Illustrated Man, October Country, Fahrenheit 451, and Golden Apples of the Sun; actually, just go buy that $30 book of all his short stories)
I'm all excited about my books now. >_>

I've read The Traveler, and it is indeed by John Twelve Hawks. I quite enjoyed it and I'm waiting to get my copy of The Dark River which is the next book in the series.
