The Handler
Name: Adara Caladwen Peloquin
Nickname: none
Classification: Half Human/ Half Elf
Gender: Female
Age & Birthday: Ageless - Her birthday would fall sometime in May
Appearance: Adara is a beautiful, willowy woman who stands about 5'11" and weighs about 135lbs. She has a moonlight complexion that seems to make her ice blue eyes stand out even more than they might have. Though she has no need to wear make-up, she does indeed wear a bit of eye kohl to enhance her eyes even more. While she's hardly the athletic types, she has enough body tone so others don't think she's too slender. Long legged, and narrow hipped, she moves with an unconscious grace that just seems to showcase her confidence in herself and her natural elegance.
She keeps her silvery white hair long, letting it fall to about the middle of her back. Most often, her hair is pulled back with a variety of silver combs that allow more of her lovely features to shine through. Though she'll occasionally leave it down, making her appear to be more innocent and fragile than she truly is. She has no piercings or tattoos and actually thinks of them as rather trashy - on herself as well as on others.
Attire: Adara is rather picky when it comes to her clothing. She's always felt that her clothing should express the nobility and beauty of her and her race, so her apparel normally consists of elegant almost medieval style dresses made of silk. She normally picks colors that seem to enhance her pale coloring - deep blues and greens with silver or white stitching throughout them.
The Creation
Name: None
Power List: Limited Telepath, glamour magic
Detailed Power:
Limited Telepath~ It might not even really be called telepathy, as it only works with her brother. She can sense how her brother feels, if they're in close proximity to eachother she can sense his thoughts as well ~ has to be within a couple of feet for this, and as the uncanny ability to finish his sentances for him. Beyond that, she really has no other telepathic skills.
Glamour~ She has the ability, for a decent amount of time (normally 24-36 hours, but if she truly concentrates she can make it last for 48 hours) to make herself appear to be something she is not. It's a form of hypnotism. She can make herself appear to be just about any living creature, though she doesn't gain any of their strengths or weaknesses. She can't perform Glamour without really concentrating on it. Once her 'appearance has run it's course, Adara must rest and normally is unable to perform another Glamour for a day or two. If she decided to appear as a human, she appears to shrink in size (appearing to stand a normal 5'6"), her normally pale skin would become a more peachy skin tone, her hair becomes a pretty golden color and her eyes wouldn't seem to stand out as much.
The Potential
Alignment/Occupation: She considers herself a staunch supporter of Nuada's regiment
Weapons: She doesn't care to use weapons, but she is skilled in the use of a long bow and does indeed own and sometimes carry a silver one.
Personality:
Adara is very vain and has at times been known to be very selfish. She knows she's beautiful, and because of that she likes to have attention. She's not one whom easily shares attention with others, but will if her brother demands it. Her brother is perhaps the only creature that can truly handle Adara and calm her down if she gets worked up. She has a short temper and an even shorter attention span if her attention is focused on others than herself.
She's been deemed to be slightly insane , though to her defense this is hardly a fault she can help. She'll sometimes giggle at nothing, and other times become quite angry without even being provoked. Sometimes she appears to have the mentality of a child (demanding, needy), but it's always fleeting and she'll snap out of it and become herself once again.
She has a strong hatred towards Humans and anyone non magic, and because of this hatred fully supports all that Prince Nuada is trying to accomplish. She does have reasons to hate humans, but she refuses to talk about them - leaving it to her brother to explain. She believes that humans are a plague which needs to be wiped out so the world can once again go back to embracing nature and magic.
Skills: She's quite efficient with her long bow, but really doesn't like to use it. She's also quite a good actress, she's quite able to pass and act like a human when she's using her Glamour. She's able to manipulate others too to get what she wants.
Strengths: She's well trained in the use of her long bow, though she doesn't use it all that much. When she's calm and clear headed, she can be most charming and has a way with words.
Weaknesses: her limited attention span is one of her greatest weaknesses ~ show her something glittery and sparkly and she'll forget everything she was doing before. Her temper is also another problem, she'll fly into a rage over absolutely nothing and it takes a lot to calm her down.
The Story
History:
Thalion and Adara Peloquin were conceived when an Elven Lord fell in love with a young human female. Sadly, the twins didn’t get to know either of their parents as their Mother died due to childbirth complications and their father died during the beginning of the wars against men. It’s unknown why he participated in them to begin with, but it’s said that his heart was so broken by the death of his human lover that he had no will to live anymore.
The orphaned half bloods were taken in by their father’s older brother and raised as his own since he had no children of his own. He decided from the start that he wouldn't tell them of their mixed blood, not only didn't he want them to long for something they couldn't have, but he also didn't wish for them to become outcasts because of it. So it was just him who knew of thier mortal mother.
After King Balor chose to break the crown that controlled the golden army up, their uncle packed the twins up and took them back to his home so he could raise them in peace. He was determined that his niece and nephew would never share the fate of their father and taught them to be open with their views of humans and non magical beings. He also taught them family honor and for them to be proud of their Elven blood.
Years of peace passed and the twins both grew stronger and stronger with the natural gifts they were blessed with. They also formed a link with each other that has despite the many years has never fully diminished. Adara grew to be quite skilled with the long bow and Thalion to be quite talented with the sword. Adara was raised to become a great lady of the court, skilled with smooth words and a pretty face; her uncle had dreams of a great marriage for her. Thalion was raised to become a knight of the Elven court, though his uncle hoped that he would never really truly need to use those skills for anything like his father had.
When the twins became of age, Thalion was sent off on his own to begin his service to the Elven King. Adara, on the other hand stayed behind to continue her own training. It was the first time in their lives that they had been separated, and it wasn’t the easiest thing for either to bear. Adara seemed to become more withdrawn from her duties as the months passed, and finally her uncle could not bear to see his niece so unhappy and decided that he would send her to the court so she could be reunited with Thalion.
Tragically, Adara never reached her brother. She was abducted by a pair of human scientists who had somehow found their way into the Elven world and spirited her back to the world of humans. They performed horrible tests and experiments on the poor woman and slowly began to drive her mad. Thankfully, she still had her link with her brother and after a period of months he tracked her down and freed her from her prison.
The creature he rescued was far different from the sister he had left with their uncle. It took a long time to get her so she was able to take care of herself and function enough so those around her could breathe easy. Gone was the care free girl, now she seemed paranoid, her mind wandering and her temper flaring more easily. Her peaceful views concerning humans were long gone as well. She now understandably held them in great contempt, and could often be found whispering to herself about how she wished ‘the human disease’ could be wiped out.
Their uncle also had a change of heart concerning the humans, for he could not understand how any race could knowingly put another through the things that Adara had. The only one who didn’t seem to change views was Thalion. He couldn’t make himself condemn a whole race for something a few had done. He kept his views to himself though as he’d been raised to put his family and his race before his personal feelings.
Everything in their lives changed though when Prince Nuada killed his father in full view of the court in order to gain control of the Golden Army. When Adara heard what had been done, she rejoiced and immediately planned to follow the prince. Thalion being more cautious somehow managed to hold his sister back, and the two decided to wait and find out exactly when and if they would be needed by Nuada.
When word of Nuada’s failure reached them, Adara flew into a rage which took weeks to calm her down from. When she was finally calm, nothing her brother could say would make her stay in their home. She had decided the only reason Nuada had failed was simply because she hadn’t been there to help him, and she wasn’t about to allow the same mistake to be made twice. Thalion, knowing it was hopeless to try to dissuade Adara once again decided that he would join her in her quest to find Nuada, even though he himself didn’t hold the same beliefs as she did.
