The Handler
Name: Thalion Beriadan Peloquin
Nickname: none
Classification: Half Human/ Half Elf
Gender: Male
Age & Birthday: Ageless - His birthday would fall sometime in May
Appearance: Thalion is often described as very attractive, with noble looking facial features and a lithe yet toned body. He stands about 6'3" and weighs maybe 185lbs. Proud of his heritage, he does little to hide his elven nature. Piercing blue eyes peer at the world through almond-shaped eyes with a curiosity bordering on sheer amazement. Often his gaze is seen flicking from one place to another at a frantic speed that makes him appear overwhelmed and nervous. Blonde hair falls in a loose ponytail down Thalion's spine. His full lips seem to always sports a sly smirk, giving the impression that he is perpetually up to something - which in reality this is hardly the case.
Thalion's body is obviously in shape, though he by no means boasts a overly muscular fasique. A lithe frame combined with muscles honed from the standard rigors of daily exercise gives him a fit body that he carries with a cat-like grace, always relaxed and seemingly uncaring, but is always very sure of the way his body moves. No major scars mar his skin, but he does have a tattoo of a pouncing tiger that runs over the left side of his chest and up over his shoulder.
Attire: He's almost always wears clothing that allows him to move with relative freedom, but are tight enough to show off the wiry muscles of his body. These clothing are mainly earth tones; light browns and varying shades of green are most often worn. He'll sometimes wear deep blues or blacks, but it is a rare occasion to see these colors on him.
The Creation
Name: None
Power List: mind reading, glamour magic
Detailed Power:
Mind Reading~ By sending out "tendrils" of psychic energy, Thalion can connect to the minds of those around him and pick up the information therein. He has met a few people that can hold his grasping brain at bay, but most people without some psychic training would not know he was in their head, let alone be able to stop him. One thing he is yet to learn the technique for is unlocking memories repressed by his target. The only other limit that he has discovered to this power is that he can not read the minds of more than three people at a time. Trying to do so can either become so taxing on his focus that he looses all of the connections or develops an intensely painful migraine headache. He at one point in time was able to read his sister's mind, but she has over the years seemed to have learned to build a wall around her thoughts so now he's only able to pick up vague notions of what she might be feeling.
Glamour~ Like his sister he has the ability to make himself appear to be something he is not. It is a form of hypnotism and he can make himself appear to be just about any living creature. He's able to perform this magic for a longer period of time than his sister is - normally for close to three days. If he truly concentrates, this time can be extended to maybe four days. Once the magic has run it's course, he must wait a day or two before performing it again. In his human glamour form, he really doesn't really change that much about himself. He does make his pointy ears appear normal to humans and makes his long blonde hair appear to look no more than a few centimeters in length.
The Potential
Alignment/Occupation: He likes to think of himself as neutral, though he's with Nuada at the moment so he can keep an eye on his sister.
Weapons: Sword
Personality: Thalion was raised to be a knight in the elven court, and that, along with his family's code of honor, are the core of his being. He is honorable, friendly, and to an extent, pure. His family's code of honor follows several tenets, and he lets this guide him in many moral decisions. He will not kill where it can be avoided, and will not fight where discussion can solve the problem. He believes that he exists to fight the wars so that those who seek peace can enjoy it. Most of all, it is his belief that he is the protector of his race, and more than that, his sister.
The Peloquin family code of honor, that which has driven him from childhood, was derived from that of a legendary king and his court (which of course the Elves know are in fact truth). It's tenets are long and complicated, but ultimately can be boiled down to a few universal truths. A knight is sworn to valor. His blade defends the helpless. His word speaks only truth. It is a loftier ideal than many would hold themselves to, however Thalion attempts to truly live these words. He knows that he goes against a lot of his beliefs by supporting his sister's ideas; but he thinks that he has to protect her now as he wasn't able to so many years ago.
Skills: He's very profiecent with the sword, he's also pretty good at languages. He speaks the fae, gnome, and troll languages. He would love to learn some of the human languages, but has never had the oppurtunity to learn any of them.
Strengths: He's pretty easy to get along with, he has great moral standards, and is actually able to put up with quite a lot before he becomes annoyed.
Weaknesses: His sister would be one of his biggest weaknesses. He'd under no circumstances ever hurt her, not even if she deserved to be throttled. He's also quite taken with the human race, which might not be seen as a weakness, but to his people it seems to be. His morals tend to get in the way with what most of his race seems to believe in also.
The Story
History:
Thalion and Adara Peloquin were conceived when an Elven Lord fell in love with a young human female. Sadly, the twins didn't get to know either of their parents as their Mother died due to childbirth complications and their father died during the beginning of the wars against men. It's unknown why he participated in them to begin with, but it's said that his heart was so broken by the death of his human lover that he had no will to live anymore.
The orphaned half bloods were taken in by their father's older brother and raised as his own since he had no children of his own. He decided from the start that he wouldn't tell them of their mixed blood, not only didn't he want them to long for something they couldn't have, but he also didn't wish for them to become outcasts because of it. So he ended up being the only one left who knew of their mortal mother.
After King Balor chose to break the crown that controlled the golden army up, their uncle packed the twins up and took them back to his home so he could raise them in peace. He was determined that his niece and nephew would never share the fate of their father and taught them to be open with their views of humans and non magical beings. He also taught them family honor and for them to be proud of their Elven blood.
Years of peace passed and the twins both grew stronger and stronger with the natural gifts they were blessed with. They also formed a link with each other that has despite the many years has never fully diminished. Adara grew to be quite skilled with the long bow and Thalion to be quite talented with the sword. Adara was raised to become a great lady of the court, skilled with smooth words and a pretty face; her uncle had dreams of a great marriage for her. Thalion was raised to become a knight of the Elven court, though his uncle hoped that he would never really truly need to use those skills for anything like his father had.
When the twins became of age, Thalion was sent off on his own to begin his service to the Elven King. Adara, on the other hand stayed behind to continue her own training. It was the first time in their lives that they had been separated, and it wasn't the easiest thing for either to bear. Adara seemed to become more withdrawn from her duties as the months passed, and finally her uncle could not bear to see his niece so unhappy and decided that he would send her to the court so she could be reunited with Thalion.
Tragically, Adara never reached her brother. She was abducted by a pair of human scientists who had somehow found their way into the Elven world and spirited her back to the world of humans. They performed horrible tests and experiments on the poor woman and slowly began to drive her mad. Thankfully, she still had her link with her brother and after a period of months he tracked her down and freed her from her prison.
The creature he rescued was far different from the sister he had left with their uncle. It took a long time to get her so she was able to take care of herself and function enough so those around her could breathe easy. Gone was the care free girl, now she seemed paranoid, her mind wandering and her temper flaring more easily. Her peaceful views concerning humans were long gone as well. She now understandably held them in great contempt, and could often be found whispering to herself about how she wished 'the human disease' could be wiped out.
Their uncle also had a change of heart concerning the humans, for he could not understand how any race could knowingly put another through the things that Adara had. The only one who didn't seem to change views was Thalion. He couldn't make himself condemn a whole race for something a few had done. He kept his views to himself though as he'd been raised to put his family and his race before his personal feelings.
Everything in their lives changed though when Prince Nuada killed his father in full view of the court in order to gain control of the Golden Army. When Adara heard what had been done, she rejoiced and immediately planned to follow the prince. Thalion being more cautious somehow managed to hold his sister back, and the two decided to wait and find out exactly when and if they would be needed by Nuada.
When word of Nuada's failure reached them, Adara flew into a rage which took weeks to calm her down from. When she was finally calm, nothing her brother could say would make her stay in their home. She had decided the only reason Nuada had failed was simply because she hadn't been there to help him, and she wasn't about to allow the same mistake to be made twice. Thalion, knowing it was hopeless to try to dissuade Adara once again decided that he would join her in her quest to find Nuada, even though he himself didn't hold the same beliefs as she did.
