THE HANDLER
NAME: Princess Nuala, daughter of King Balor
NICKNAME: None
CLASSIFICATION: Elf
GENDER: Female
AGE & BIRTHDAY: Like her brother, she is ancient and has lived through many ages. It has been a long time since her adolescence.
APPEARANCE: Nuala stands at approximately 5’11, a stature not uncommon among elves. Her skin is a pale, aged white, resembling the tone of ivory. Across her cheek bones is a linear marking; a feature she shares in common with her late father, twin brother, and the remaining members of the Elven race. Her eyes are a soft gold with black edges. Her facial structure is cleanly cut, with high cheek bones and a feminine jaw. The area around her eyes are often tinted with ochre hue. The pit of her eyes darkly tinted, which heightens the color of her irises.
In frame, she is slender. Though not voluptuous, her form is still distinctly feminine and graceful. Her hair is kept long, though shorter than her brother's; it starts off platinum-blond at the roots and darkens into a yellow-blonde at the tips. She has no discernible eyebrows. Like all elves, her ears are pointed at the top. Unlike her brother, her lips are a petal-pale shade of pink that softens her ivory complexion.
Because of the link she shares with her brother, her back and arms are not without their scars and blemishes. These marks do not usually cause her to be self conscious, as they are covered by her clothing. Her hands are soft, and lightly calloused from her royal life; but again, any wounds the one twin endures is shared by the other
ATTIRE: The Elven princess is accustomed to robes of silk and brocade from her life in the court. She only managed to take a few of her belongings after the conflict between the team and Nuada. This includes her white and blue gowns. After her time spent with the BPRD, she has decided to “tone down” the princess attire, exchanging silk for cotton and wool dresses. When (if ever) she does participate in missions, she dons black, loose fitting trousers, soft leather boots, and a high-necked Victorian-style blouse of either blue, cream, or black [Example]

THE CREATION
NAME: None thus far
POWER LIST: (1) Psycho-physical link to her brother (2) Psychic abilities tied to touch.
DETAILED POWER: Nuala’s psycho-physicalties to her twin brother originated at their birth. They are able to know what the other knows, and feel what the other feels. Unfortunately, this also means that whatever happens to one twin, also happens to the other. Often times, when her brother is very angry, Nuala, in addition to sensing that emotion, she is often made ill by it. It can also keep her up at night, or give her nightmares. if she is asleep, what her brother is experiencing can creep into her dreams if his experiences are tied to strong emotions.
Nuala is also able to read others through the use of touch. However, this ability is limited to the palm of her hands. When reading others, it works best if she touches their hands or their face. She can also get a glimpse of the content of books, though this is only enough to give her an idea if she would like to read it, or if their is useful information in the book. For example, if she were to place her fingertips on the spine of a book on a self and think of the topic she is looking for, and be able to flip to the page with that information. This aspect is mainly just a convenient time saver. Concentration is very important with her powers. Often times if their is loud music playing, or someone is trying to speak with her, she is unable to find the information she is looking for, either from inanimate objects or living things. It is not a power that she can "turn off," so she is always receiving information, as long as she is in contact with another person or thing. Her powers work solely in terms of the past and the present.
THE POTENTIAL
ALIGNMENT/OCCUPATION: BPRD
WEAPONS: A knife she conceals in her clothing.
PERSONALITY: Nuala is a lady of the court and thus acts under a certain level of decorum. She is not afraid to defend herself--as Abraham learned when she pulled a knife on him in the Goblin Market. She is respectful of her elders, though she is torn by her love for her brother and her loyalty to her father's memory. She is often soft-spoken, but knows how to speak-up when she is moved to. When she speaks, her accent is similar to the lilt of the English.
She enjoys poetry and music. If given enough time, Nuala will learn a new skill that suits her interests. She is often baffled by the technology of the human world, for it has been her duty to remain hidden in the shadows and away from the human world. Now that she has joined the BPRD, she is willing to adjust her lifestyle, albeit ever so slightly, in order to adapt to her new surroundings. She avoids most technological advancements, including computers. She dislikes the sound of gunfire and explosions, as they are most unnatural to her.
SKILLS: Being raised in a courtly world, Nuala has many skills. Like in medieval times, Nuala was taught to sew, dance, play music, and paint in her youth. Over the millennia, she has brought it upon herself to read the literature of both her people and of the human world. However, she is very selective in her reading. She is fluent in English (from across the centuries), Latin, Greek, and her mother tongue, Elvish.
STRENGTHS: Nuala's strength lies in her willingness to uphold the truce her father put in place, and in her compassion for others. Unlike her brother, she can accept the change in the tides of time; She is willing to fade into the background of history with her dignity intact. She has a strong will, and if she has her mind set on accomplishing a task, she will, even if it takes her awhile. Patience is another virtue she has, though her long life span may contribute to that. She shows a great deal of empathy for others, even when she is not sharing physical contact them. Additionally, she is a gifted gymnast, and agile. She is a good runner, is able to climb trees quickly, and a fairly decent swimmer.
WEAKNESSES: Though she has a new place in her heart for Abraham, her ties to her brother still conflict her emotions. At times, she wishes she could find a way to sever their bond, though she knows she would feel incomplete without it. Though she is immortal, this does not make her invincible; She can be killed, and if her brother dies, she will die too. While she is skilled in acrobatics, she is not physically strong. She is prone to sleepless nights if her brother is taking violent actions or having violent thoughts. She is often awakened at night by dreams that are hard to separate from what she may be sensing from her brother. She is perhaps more sensitive to her brother than her brother is to her, as he only seems to gain knowledge from her, and not her emotions.
THE STORY
HISTORY: As a member of the Elven race, Nuala and her brother grew up in an age where thick and lush forests were the extent of their vast kingdom. Before the age of man, Nuala was free to roam about the woods, without the worry of harm from the outside world. In her early years, Nuala would spend most of her days walking through the woods with her father, or playing games with her brother. Because Nuala and Nuada were born with an intimate bond, they were close as children. Until her brother went into exile, Nuada was her dearest friend. Nuala never cried when she was hurt on her brother’s account. When the twins came of age, she never objected to the bruises and scratches her brother could receive during his training to be a warrior. Nuala, on the other hand, rejected violence.
Soon her twin’s skills would be tested as man encroached on their forest kingdom, and the Elves were given no choice but to fight back. Saddened by this turn of events, Nuala could only watch helplessly as her dear brother went into battle each sunrise and returned with Balor’s defeated armies with every sunset. In her duty to her brother, she would care for his wounds, matching him in bandages.
When the Goblin Lord came to her father with his offer to build an unstoppable Golden Army, Nuala only stood back while her brother pleaded with their father to accept. With a heavy heart, she had to turn away from the carnage her father and brother witnessed on the battlefields. She could sense her brother’s feelings of triumph and violent joy, and she knew he would never come to understand why her heart ached for the likes of man. Her admiration for her father grew when he silenced the Golden Army and made peace with the human world. Her heart also broke that day, as she watched her brother abandon his family. King Balor tried in vain to shield Nuala’s heart from her brother's. But the princess was often stricken with the pain of her brother’s never ending anger and anguish. As the power of man grew, Nuala and her people slipped back with the forest lines, and hid in the shadow of man. They kept their truce, regardless of the costs.
Eons passed and Nuada returned from exile, but only after releasing a band of tooth faeries on unsuspecting humans, and retrieving their crown piece. In his return to the court, Nuala was the only one Nuada would relinquish his weapon for,. He carried two weapons, however. When Balor sentenced her brother to death, Nuala was at peace with the decision. Though it would mean her own demise, she respected her father’s decision that would prevent Nuada from seeking the destruction of man. After his failed execution, Nuala only had moments to flee. Her father died in his throne, and her brother took the second crown piece. With nowhere else to go, she was forced into hiding. She had to sneak about the Goblin Market in order to retrieve the map her father had left for her in a scroll shop.
Despite her disguise, she caught the attention of a strange blue, fish man, and failed to elude him. After receiving the scroll, the shop keeper guided her into the back of the shop to hide, but it was no use, the blue man had found her. He knew who she was, and she demanded why he was following her. Asking if her brother had sent him, she quickly she pulled her knife on him.
“My name is Abraham Sapien,” the aquatic male began, nervously.
“There is no such name,” She insisted.
“Oh, I don't like it much either, but...”
“Enough! Give me your hand,” she demanded, brandishing her dagger at his face. When their hands touched, she knew instantly she had been mistaken. She was able to read who he was working for, and that his name was indeed, Abraham Sapien.
Wink, her brother’s companion and servant, soon found them and Abraham urged her to let him handle things. Soon, the pair of them came bursting through the wall and a giant red demon came to the aide of his friend. Soon enough, the red man defeated Wink, and Nuala was obliged to follow the BPRD members. They were not yet in the clear, as Nuada appeared and summoned an elemental on them. Nuala again had to watch violence, which made her heart sick.
As an onslaught of humans crowded the members of the BPRD, Nuala remained in the shadows, unwilling to be seen by the humans. Without much of a choice, Nuala returned to BPRD head quarters with the team. Though she was forced from her home, Nuala wished to help the humans. Plus, she was intrigued by the blue man who could also read people through touch. Though their meeting was under dire circumstances, Nuala developed an affection for her new friend, Abraham, after discussing poetry.
Sadly, Nuala knew that her brother would come for her, and that she was not safe. She knew when her brother was coming for her, and quickly hid the crown piece in the blue Tennyson book, where she hoped Abraham would find it. She watched as her brother fought the inebriated Hellboy and stabbed the red man's heart with his enchanted lance. The only way for the BPRD to save him, and rescue her, would be to find them in Bethmora--located in the Giant's Causeway of Northern Ireland. Her brother and Hellboy fought once again, and she was prepared to die from it. But Hellboy spared her brother, who retreated into the darkness.
With the crown destroyed, Nuala knew she would be unable to return to her home. Her brother's thirst for war with the humans would lead him to take his place on the throne. So, like her brother, she exiled herself, and returned to the bureau. There she and Abraham could spend time together. Her wish was to join the BPRD in protecting the human world from her brother's wrath.
