The Handler
Name: Euria Odei (she gave herself the surname)
Nickname: Some humans called her Ria once, she didn’t like it much.
Classification: Odei
Gender: Female
Age & Birthday: 230, 3rd May
Appearance: Euria is not very human in appearance, resembling more a ghost or spirit of some kind. She has the basic anatomy and features of a human but she looks unreal. Though she is totally solid the edges of her narrow form cannot be distinguished and she appears as if she is always shrouded in dark fog. Euria’s whole skin appears as a swirling mass of cloud and dark sky. Her eyes are more like swirling black holes in her face, with the occasional flash of bright light behind them and her mouth is just a darkened gap in the shape of her face. She has no hair to speak of, just short pale grey wisps of smoke at the top of her head, and she stands about 5’8 tall.
When she moves she does so with extreme grace, literally gliding over the earth. She has no feet and her legs appear as long columns of dark cloud, which move more like tendrils than actual legs. Her arms too are long, ending in long tendrils of solid cloud which she can use as fingers to grasp things. Her appearance is changed slightly by her mood. When she is totally at peace her body seems to be a little paler and more smoke-like and there are less flashes of lightning behind her eyes. When she is very angry or very upset her body is a much darker shade and appears a lot more solid and there are tiny thunderstorms in her eye sockets.
Attire: In Odei form she has no need for clothing and could not wear it even if she wanted to. However when she is using glamour magic to give herself a human form she has a very simple style, wearing mostly black. She prefers loosely fitting clothes as she dislikes the feeling of being restricted at all and this clothing usually takes the form of wide legged trousers and a simple tunic top. Sometimes she wears a coloured top in a shade of deep and vibrant blue though this is rare. Her footwear is invariably a pair of flat pumps. She also usually wears a pair of sunglasses to hide her eyes after a bad reaction the first time she met humans.
The Creation
Name: none
Power List: Elemental - Storm, Glamour Magic
Detailed Power:
Elemental – Storm – Odei are storm spirits and so [name]’s greatest power is the control of storms. She can summon small thunderstorms which grow in size the older and more powerful she becomes. She can currently summon storms of about tem metres in diameter, though this is tiring for her and so the storms will only be active for about two hours before they die down. She can also create and fire bolts of lightning by focusing her energy on a specific point – usually her hands. As she is a storm spirit she also has a natural immunity to electrical shocks and a tendency to attract lightning strikes when there is a storm in the area. If she is directly hit by lightning it will temporarily give her a large boost of energy and power.
Glamour Magic – Euria knew a witch once who taught her how to harness her elemental powers to use a little bit of glamour magic. She can use this magic to give herself a human appearance. In this form she is a slim, dark-skinned woman standing about 5’6 tall. She doesn’t look perfectly human though, her eyes are still the same pure black and her hair still looks wispy. She can keep this form for up to six hours if she is fully energised though it tires her and she begins to look less human towards the end.
The Potential
Alignment/Occupation: Unaffiliated.
Weapons: None
Personality: Euria’s moods are as changeable and unpredictable as the storms she is formed from. She can switch from being kind and loving to having an almost monstrous temper without warning.
Most of the time she is a kind and caring soul. Calm, with a level head, she will do whatever she can to bring aid to others when they need it. She feels more of a kinship to creatures of myth and legend and is much more inclined to take their side in things though at the moment she would not often say no to helping a human who really needed it. However this kindness towards humans is wearing thin. Among the few things she really cannot stand oppression and betrayal are the worst, and the more she sees the humans committing these crimes against her fellows – the other ancient creatures of the earth – the less she likes them. She is at her happiest and calmest during stormy seasons.
Of course like the storms Euria can be cold and dangerous. There are the few times when her ferocious temper is sparked by next to nothing, usually during times when there have been very few storms, but most of the time it really takes something to set her off. Constantly insulting and attacking the magical realm is one sure fire way to do so, as is trying to back her into a corner and force her to become something she isn’t. She doesn’t even like to hear of it and because of this she can be easily influenced into disliking others just through the use of stories.
Aside from this Euria has a fairly black and white personality. She doesn’t experience many emotions outside of calm, anger, happiness and sadness. She isn’t sure whether she can experience love or fear and she doesn’t even understand the human emotions of guilt, envy, and want.
Skills: Euria has great aim, honed from years of targeting bolts of lightning at things. She rarely misses anything bigger than a tennis ball these days, even from a distance of up to ten metres away.
She has also picked up a few languages in her time. She knows English and French fluently and enough Elvish to keep up a conversation. She has also picked up a few words of Latin and Troll over the years.
Strengths: As a creature who is not human Euria can go for over a month without any kind of food, providing she is around stormy weather. She can gather energy from storms and being struck by lightning will make her momentarily more powerful. She can also move fairly swiftly and is good at hiding in the shadows because she blends right in.
Weaknesses: As a being of storms Euria needs their energy frequently and will start to weaken the longer she has been away from them, after a week she is severely weakened. As she cannot keep her glamour up for long she cannot be around humans for long periods of time without reverting back and causing panic. Despite her long lifespan she is still not much of a problem solver – give her a puzzle and she’ll be stuck for hours. Finally she has very limited understanding of humans and human emotions, mostly focused around bits and pieces she has picked up from her limited interactions with the species.
The Story
History:
Euria was not born, she was created – or rather summoned. She remembers almost nothing of life before she found herself on earth, just fleeting glimpses of dancing between lightning bolts and being surrounded by dark cloud in her dreams. Sometimes she sees others like her in these dreams. She calls the date of her summoning the date of her birth though she remembers it more clearly than most remember their births. She remembers the feeling of being pulled, like she was being sucked down a whirlpool, then the cold air and suffocating closeness of a cave. The man who summoned her was a powerful mage in search of a warrior to protect his town from a supernatural attacker. Euria, angry at being torn away from a home she now only had a fleeting memory of, chose to aid the attacker – a type of hellhound – until it was finally killed by an outsider.
The townsfolk then went to turn on Euria but she had long since left, returning to the Pyrenees Mountains. She did not return to the cave she was summoned into but travelled further up the mountains. Here she lived for almost fifty years without any realisation of how much time had passed. When she finally came down again from the mountains she was faced with fear and hatred. People who had long since forgotten the hellhound incident fled from her, running into hiding, others tried to attack her. Angry and saddened she left the country forever, stowing away in the cargo hold of a ship not knowing where it would take her. She only left the hold at night, standing on the deck and enjoying the cool air. That ship suffered an unusual number of lightning strikes during its journey but miraculously there was never any damage.
The ship finally landed in America and Euria departed under cover of night, constantly wandering and spending her nights in abandoned buildings or under the cover of trees. During this time she found herself in Quebec and it was here that she met a kindly witch who agreed to teach her a simple glamour so that she could travel without the threat of being attacked and killed by fearful men. Though she was saddened that it had come to such Euria agreed and so she learned how to shield herself. In return she rid the witch of a pack of wolves who were eating her livestock.
Since then Euria has spent her time just wandering the world. Sometimes she will do odd jobs in exchange for a little pay, working mostly for supernatural beings rather than humans - although any money is good money, but mostly she keeps her head down and keeps away from any attention. She always uses her glamour when going anywhere near humans, though she dislikes it she has been attacked too many times in the past to risk showing her real face. She has also kept her ear to the ground, listening and watching. Euria knows all about Nuada and what he stands for and in some cases she can’t help but agree though she is yet to seek entrance to his ranks.
