As Nuala began speaking of her brother, Tabby's eyebrow slightly twitched as a small tirade went off in her head. "Oh very nice Tabby! Way to blab about family so she starts thinking about hers! You are as suave as a piece of coarse sandpaper!" Tabby berated herself inwardly. She hadn't been involved in any of the nasty business with Nuada, but she had heard enough to know what went on and exactly why Nuala was at the BPRD. "Happy thoughts are key, you spaz, so make with the happy!" She forced the corners of her mouth to twitch upward and moved to change the subject.
She leaned back in her chair and put her arms behind her head, cradling her bedhead of red curls as well as her skull. "How do you like the Bureau? The only thing I like about it I think is the uh...commute time to work." She offered a very weak laugh and then paused. "Do you like...video games?"

Nuala was ever grateful for her to change the subject, she had no desire to talk about her family to anyone, really, hardly even Abe. Of course, she spoke about her homeland a lot with him, but almost about the place, not the people. Anywho, she knew that Tabby could tell she was growing uncomfortable, and she flashed the girl a slightly thankful look when she changed the subject. She watched as Tabby settled back in her chair, and figured that she might as well make herself comfortable as well, and let herself sink into a an empty chair next to her.
When Tabby asked how she liked the Bureau, instantly, her thoughts and her gaze drifted over to Abraham, but she didn't let her eyes linger too long - she did not want to be rude to Tabby. "I like it very much," She began with a small smile and a nod, folding her hands elegantly in her lap, "The people here are very nice... And I feel... safe here." She let her thoughts drift for a moment, but was quickly pulled out of them when Tabby mentioned... 'Video games'?
Her brow furrowed and she cocked her head slightly - what were these 'video games' of which she spoke. "What are... 'video games'?" She questioned, she didn't want to sound too confused - but really... She was. There was much to learn about humans that she hadn't yet.

"I think we are adult enough not to have to make a schedule, Julius." Frankie said rather tartly. "But I note your working time. I am preoccupied from early in the morning to early afternoon. I think that is easy enough to remember." Her lips pursed as she thought maybe this wouldn't be too bad after all. She lowered her voice, just in case Manning was listening. "I don't think Manning has the gall to check up on us. I think it will be fine if we just perhaps keep up pretenses this won't turn out to be such a big inconvenience for both of us. That is, if you're game to keep up such a pretense." Frankie fixed Julius' eyes with her intense copper gaze, one hand straying to fiddle with the wedding ring on her left hand.

"The people here are very nice... And I feel... safe here."
"Well that is just fantastic!" Tabby said a bit loudly and cheerfully, but she meant it. Personally, if one of Tabby's brothers had pulled that crap with her, Tabby knew she'd want a safe place to be. "This place is pretty groovy. I mean liek whoah. I couldn't have picked a better place to be employed by the government at." She laughed.
"What are... 'video games?"
Tabby stared. Then she looked down at the table and stared. And then she stared up at Nuala once more. "What?!" She said this so incredulously that some surrounding people stared at her. "I'm sorry, it's just...video games! They're...they're...Oh wow, I could say stuff, but playing them -- Ok. They are games with story-lines that differ, and you play them through a console hooked to a TV, and with a controller. I mean - Oh my gosh, I gotta show you! What do you say to you, me, junk food, and an all night video game palooza?!" This Buddies Week was starting to look rather awesome.

For a moment, Nuala regretted asking about these 'video games'. As soon as Tabby stared at her, like she was crazy or something, Nuala shifted a bit uncomfortably. Why was she staring at her? Were these 'video games' some sort of sacred objects, or something? She wasn't sure. And then, Tabby exclaimed rather loudly - and Nuala jumped ever so slightly. This was certainly going to be an interesting Buddies Week, that was for sure.
The Princess couldn't really follow what she was talking about. So far, she got that they were games with different storlines - that sounded interesting - but then she started talking about a 'console' and a 'TV" (she sort of knew what that was, thanks to Abe), with a 'controller'. She was still utterly confused, now a bit more than before, really. When Tabby asked her if she wanted to show her, and have 'an all night video game palooza', Nuala was a bit, well... scared. But she couldn't say no - the girl genuinely wanted to, and she was nice.
"I would love to," Nuala finally managed out with a small smile. She didn't know what to say past that - maybe if Tabby was going to be showing her something from her culture, Nuala should show her something from hers? Well, there was plently of books in the library about the Elves, one in particular had extravagant drawings of Bethmoora itself, maybe Nuala could show her those? "Perhaps, on another night, I might show you a bit more about my homeland?"

Manning glanced up at the nun and at her waving hand. “Yes, what is it?”
Angeleanna lowered her hand and smiled brightly. “I apologize, I seemed to have missed my name being called. May I inquire as to whom I am to be partnered with? I would very much like to the meet my buddy.” She expectantly glanced about to see if any one of the agents were looking at her.

Shop talk hesitantly drew him from staring at the princess and gave his full rapt attention to his female colleague. He drew a hand to his mouth and curled all but two fingers to rub against the thin pink lips thoughtfully. His other hand rested on the edge of the table with an almost delicate care of the glossy skin. The allure most people had to violence and the need to fill that void by looking bypassed him and he was perfectly content with Phia’s brief description.
“With or without a pentagram? Some legends have it with it and Sakhr as the trickster. The Thelemic system might suggest that if there is a pentagram, hidden or otherwise by another means of magic might be withholding inscrutable obstacle. A booby trap if you will, though please, don’t count that as fact. Merely the rambling thoughts of yours truly.”
"And you? How's your morning been?" she asked.
“Wonderful, I was actually late.” He tipped his head subtly towards Manning. “I came into possession of some wonderful mixed tapes.” The hand on his mouth gestured towards the personal tape player and large earphones beside him. Abraham rested his fingertips on the cord that snaked away from him and felt the memory of music pulse. “Oh, and I was working on this delectable ancient manuscript of Mansa Kankou Musa, the tenth emperor of the Mali Empire. I know deciphering ancient languages isn’t my specialty but I simply couldn’t put it down.”
“Apparently it seems to be a recipe for what can be described as a mix between a sugar cookie and bread. It seems the departed Musa had a odd sweet tooth.”
Manning frowned and looked at his list of names he had gone through. He scanned them once, twice before looking up again and realized the nun had been skipped over completely. “Sister,” he said to obscure the slip-up. “You’re my wild card, but I have decided to make you my buddy for the week. That is, until you’re needed by someone else.”

"Cripes," said Phia, a marked improvement on her usual language upon such a revelation, "I never would have thought of it if you hadn't said it. Thanks, Abe! I can see partnering with you is gonna be a learning experience." She rubbed her neck ruefully. She'd have to give those photos another look. He could be wrong, but, considering the results, she doubted it."

"Huh, no joke? I used to love cooking. I was lousy at it, but those kinds of things are always interesting to read. Like an Ancient Roman snack cake that was a favorite of Nero's. He may have been horrible, but he was a glutton for cheese and honey."

"I would love to."
"Oh goody!" Tabby said clapping her hands together. "I can get two TVs put into m room and get a set-up so we can totally do multi-players online!" One could tell just by looking at Tabby's flushed face just how excited she was at he prospect. "And we'll get Doritos and soda and Cheetos and Funyuns and--"
"Perhaps, on another night, I might show you a bit more about my homeland?"
That stopped Tabby's ramblings dead in the air. She looked at Nuala golden eyes with her blue ones stretched in awe. "Really? Oh man, that sounds...that sounds really...great." She laughed softly. "Wow. That would be cool." Tabby didn't even think of her showing Nuala about video-games as a way to show her a bit of her homeland. She was reverent at the thought of learning more about Nuala, and humbled. "This...is going to be fun."

Julius's blue gaze fixed on her and a smile crawled across his face and was gone just as quickly. He looked down at his notes and shuffled them, "I think that would work quite nicely, Frankie." The room was abuzz with light talking and plans, as the others decided how to work out their schedules. "I think..." he said in a low tone, "If we traded notes on each other's projects, it would keep up pretenses."

"I never would have thought of it if you hadn't said it. Thanks, Abe! I can see partnering with you is gonna be a learning experience."
Abraham tilted his head, following the path of her hand with large blue eyes. He steepled his fingers and tipped his head forward in a graceful bow before arching his neck and leaned forward. “I have much to teach you, my padawan.” He leaned back with an almost apologetic shrug of his shoulders. “That would probably be more convincing if I was wearing robes, though I could be a pretty good squid general, minus being a squid… and a general.”
"Huh, no joke?
“Scouts honor.” Abe lofted two fingers while his other hand strayed to his chest. “Domestic Deity? At least, I think that’s what it called, domestic something. Hmm. The name escapes me but I cannot cook either, heat and I don’t always get along with each other.”
but he was a glutton for cheese and honey."
“Cake of cheese with a little mulsum on the side? I have tried that once, the former that is.” He added as an afterthought. No, he had learned his lesson months ago and vowed he’d never repeat it. “Conditum paradoxum also had honey and a mix of saffron, laurels and mastic, very befitting of a great and terrible emperor.”

“You’re my wild card, but I have decided to make you my buddy for the week. That is, until you’re needed by someone else.”
“Really?” Her mouth pursed slightly and her brow tightened in deep thought. “That’s wonderful!” And she stood quickly, gathering her things with her. “I have always wanted to spend more time with you Director but our schedules have just clashed with each other.” The nun dropped her empty styrofoam cup into a nearby trash receptacle and made her way around the table and the chattering groups. “I know how busy you are and I am more then ready to arrange my time around you.”
“Except now.” Angeleanna glanced up at the clock, noted the time and pulled herself up to Manning, brushing shoulders. She hook her arm in his before he could react and pulled gently with an strong hand. “If we hurry we can attend mass this morning. Have you ever been to mass, Director? You’ll love it. The church is wonderful and accepting and you will have to meet the boys. The Davis triplets, Mark, Luke and John. They are simply amazing and though a little rowdy, you will never met a more sincere family.” She left no room for Manning to object.

Nuala could tell Tabby was quite excited, and that made her smile a bit, while she was a tad bit nervous about these 'video games' - and what 'Doritos', 'Funyuns', and 'Cheetos' were - she, too, was also excited. She loved to learn about human culture, like what they did for fun, and well, this was a perfect example. She was almost worried when Tabby fell silent at the prospect of Nuala teaching her about her homeland, but soon, after Tabby spoke again... Nuala's smile grew. If only her brother was here, this might be a perfect example of a human actually wanting to learn about their culture, and respecting it.
"Tabby, I am very glad to have been paired up with you this week," Nuala spoke with a smile on her face and a friendly, quite happy look in her eyes, "I believe that we can learn much from each other, and have... fun doing it." She finished, 'fun' wasn't really a word she used to often, but in this case, she had to. There was nothing else to describe what she was expecting.

"If we traded notes on each other's projects, it would keep up pretenses."
The woman's lips pursed into a thin line. She didn't like sharing the aspects of her own projects, mostly because she felt that the fewer people involved, the less a chance of the likelihood that things would get blown all to hell. Her recent mission to New Jersey with Evadne and the two others that were too weak and eventually left the Bureau because of it was a fine example. But if this could make it so that she and Julius could worm their way around each other for this God-awful idea of a Buddies Week, so be it.
"Currently I am in Slavic folklore and mythology, with a focus on Russia. I'm examining the myth of Baba Yaga and the beasts know as Lopars as found in Fletcher the Elder's Of the Russe Common Wealth, determining what Lopars can be categorized as, and whether Baba Yaga was indeed just a witch, or a variant of demon." It was amazing that anyone could say such a mouthful in one breath, but Frankie managed it. She sucked another breath in before saying, "I am usually in the library, the Bureau's archives, or my own quarters."

"Tabby, I am very glad to have been paired up with you this week. I believe that we can learn much from each other, and have... fun doing it."
The unmistakable and quite shrill sound that issued from Tabby's throat could be described as nothing more than a squee of such excitement that it could rival time and all of its boundaries. "I am so excited. Seriously. Fun. I think fun falls short of what we are going to have." If Taby had worn sunglasses to the meeting, she would have put them on right now. "Prepare for an explosion of sheer awesomeness!"
"What else do you have planned for today? Because I'm sure we could totally build up to tonight. I can show you the Scrap Pile, and we could grab lunch, and we could - we could - We could make BFF BRACELETS!" Her voice echoed through the room and she suddenly looked a bit like a stunned duck. Her cheeks flushed and she looked down sheepishly. "Sorry. This is what happens when I get woken up early in the morning."
