The giant dog...thing... was snuffling around the floor looking for bits it had missed. Susanne peeked over the top of the desk for the 3rd time, her eyes following it. It paced back and forth between the three beds that it had torn apart to get at every bit of human flesh it could. It paced to the door then back. She went back to sitting under the desk, looking at the phone.
Why couldn't she use it? because it was a fax line. Why the hell a fax line was in the coma ward was beyond her. She heard the snuffling again, nearer the desk. There was a scratching and a shuffling. She leaned up to peek over the desk just as the beast charged the door. Her barricade, an IV stand through the door handles, was rocked back and the stand bend forward. The beast paced back, staring the door down and went at it again. It charged and the rod broke.
The beast burst out of the hall and rolled across the ground. As it did, another sight met Susanne's eyes. A man! She was about to leap up to scream for him to run when she noticed that the man was naked, with a Y incision at his chest. She blinked as the man shuffled slowly, followed by a woman. Naked, with a Y incision across her chest. her breasts sagging like waxy socks filled with rocks. The beast seemed to ignore them as it romped down the hall. Another man shuffled into her sight.
"What the..." She narrowed her eyes watching the three move sluggishly across the floor. One stopped, lifting it's nose to the air, seeming to sniff like an animal.

Sighing Evadne began to skim over the file the agent had handed her. Of course no mission was as simple as Manning would lead one to believe when they got assigned to it. No, that man was vindictive, she was sure he was still upset when she'd actually chuckled at his last effort to exert any sort of control over Hellboy. It wasn't her fault that the man just had little or no authority over any of the agents.
Shaking her head, she snapped the file shut after checking out the picture of the human doctor, one Doctor Susan Black, who was still inside the building. They had to get the woman out, Zombies or Adlets - neither were good for the good doctor. Both creatures would rather eat her than do anything else, and well... Yeah she was sure the media would just love to run a story about how a doctor was eaten while working in the hospital... So was not going to happen on her watch.
"Witches...." Evadne muttered with a slight roll of her eyes. "And let me guess, no one actually thought to check out where they'd set up shop, did they?"
"Uh..." The young agent began shifting awkwardly from foot to foot.
"I didn't mean for you to actually answer," Evadne interrupted before he could get anything else out. She opened the file again and flipped through it until she came to the part about the witches and the alter that had been found. She felt, rather than heard Mayfair move closer to her so he too could see the file.
>>"The zombie."<<
She frowned, her gaze once again moving slowly over the picture and she sighed. This was why it was bad to allow witches to register in an area that was populated. Sure not all were incompetent, but the few that were kind of ruined the deal for the rest. Like the ones who'd actually been dumb enough to make a zombie. "Some one needs to find these witches and see what they know about this," she informed the young agent, who quickly nodded and darted off.
"Evadne and... Jules?"
Her gaze snapped up and focused on a yawning Hellboy. Frowning, she glanced down at the file again and quickly flipped to the front to where the names of all agents involved were suppose to be. Nope, she hadn't thought so... No Hellboy. Stupid Manning! "So nice to see you too HB," Evadne said as she once again snapped the file shut. "Of course Manning neglected to let me know you were coming. But that's actually a normal move for him, shouldn't have been surprised."
She looked over at Mayfair. "You obviously know the Doctor. So... Doctor, why don't you fill him in on what's going on and I'm going to go and find out if there's a floor plan for this place."

Julius looked over at the van as it started rocking and Hellboy jumped out. He was unsure how to feel. He was working with the famed Hellboy the first time. He had not really met Hellboy at the Christmas party and so far had yet to see him at all at the BPRD.
*** "You obviously know the Doctor. So... Doctor, why don't you fill him in on what's going on and I'm going to go and find out if there's a floor plan for this place."***
Evadne moved off to do leader stuff and Julius looked at HB. He put out his left hand to Hellboy, "Julius Mayfair. It's a pleasure to work with you, Hellboy."
He would have put out he right hand to shake but...well... HB being HB, Julius wouldn't have that hand to use for quite a while. He had heard about HB through the BPRD grapevine. he was a shoot now ask questions later kind of guy. The muscle. So he would get right down to it.
"We have had reports of a zombie in there. The hospital has already been evacuated, save for 3 coma patients and one doctor." He offered the picture of Susanne to HB. "We were called about adlets, though. Both could be in there, we have yet to have any real evidence."

Hellboy watched quietly as Evadne passed him off to yet another new guy and then turned and briskly walked away. "She always this cranky?" the demon muttered, leaning toward Julian.
He had been watching the woman walk away, but at Julian's introduction, Hellboy looked down at the outstretched arm; the left one. He knew exactly what the reason for that was, but Hellboy believed that a newbie wasn't officially a member of the BPRD unless they were messed with first. He had had fun with Myers (though he would never admit it, he sometimes missed the kid); there was a guy who couldn't take a joke. A shadow of a smile passed the demon's lips at the memory, but it quickly disappeared.
"What's wrong with my right hand?" Hellboy snapped, feigning hurt. He scowled at Julian through the short briefing, and just happened to look up at the hospital at the last moment. The makeshift base went silent as a shrill wail started up. It seemed to be coming from one of the upper floors, and suddenly there was a great crash as a body was flung out of a window.
Hellboy dropped the act immediately and drew the Samaritan. "Is that evidence for you?" His question was a bit gruff, but he didn't mean it to be mean. "Come on." He pushed passed a huddle of suits and picked his way in the direction of the hospital entrance.

"Got me. You've known her longer then I have." He said as he strapped on a heavy utility belt loaded with light wands, ammo, and other helpful items. He then offered his hand in welcome and went over the mission as breifly as he could. He had heard Hellboy had a short attention span. He noticed through the whole thing that HB was scowling at him.
*** "What's wrong with my right hand?"***
Julius blinked once, looking at his right hand then to HB, raising an eyebrow, "I'm sorry. The fact you only have four fingers on that hand creeps me out."
As soon as the words left his mouth, there was a crash. Julius turned, his .45 Colt drawn and raised. Agents swarmed to the body on the ground as HB went the other way, towards the entrance. Jules followed. As soon as he entered the building, he stopped. He felt woozy as the air became thick. Magic.
"Holy Christ." He said as he tried to right himself. "Some kind of serious magic as been going on in this place."
Flashes of light went off at the edge of his field of vision. He ignored them. He disliked public hospitals, especially ones as old as this one. They were vortexes for the spirit world. He had enough experience and control over his ability to go on with what was important. Neutralizing the threat and rescuing the trapped doctor.
The hospital was dark, the power had been cut by the police for some reason. It was very quiet on the first floor. Trash littered the floor, it was obvious the hospital had evacuated in a hurry. Jules held the Colt out with one hand as he steadied it with his other. He used his free hand to pull out a light wand and smacked it against a door frame. The chemicals inside mixed, creating an eerie green light. He held it up to allow them the best possible light source as he followed HB through the halls.

Evadne hadn't gotten all that far from where she'd left Hellboy and Mayfair when suddenly a body came flying out of a window. Her eyebrows merely arched as she slowly turned her gaze to where the body had landed. "Figures," she muttered under her breath, and decided that she truly hated Manning right at that moment. She couldn't figure out why he couldn't just let her have something easy, like oh.... A possessed tea kettle of something of that nature. He of course had to keep putting her on cases that completely defied what he claimed they were. Jerk.
She turned to yell something to both of the guys and seeing that neither of them were where she'd left them, her eyes narrowed and a scowl formed on her lips. "Where the hell are they?" Evadne snapped at a passing agent.
"Who? Hellboy and the Doctor? They went inside the hospital," The agent replied motioning toward the building.
Her scowl deepened and her gaze flew to the hospital. It was obvious she was a bit more than annoyed. She liked to follow procedure and what those two had done? They, in her mind, had not, as she was the team leader! "Men," she grumbled as she quickly moved to head inside the building.
Evadne paused inside, her eyes instantly compensating for the lack of light. She cocked her head to the side, listening carefully before she headed off down a corridor. It really didn't take her long to find the two men as she'd been able to hear they from the entrance of the building. It also didn't help that neither of them were being what she'd consider quiet either.
"You might want to keep your voices down," She hissed, her face illuminated by the green glow of Mayfair's glow stick. She held up a hand suddenly, quieting as she leaned a bit to the side, listening once again. "Some thing's moving down the other hall.... Two some thing's actually." She took a few steps closer to the mentioned corridor and peeked around the corner. "Zombies..." She whispered, her nose wrinkling a bit as she motioned the two men to follow her.

OOC: Since HB is MIA at the moment...
Jules wasn't sure about letting Evadne go first, but she was the leader, a vampire, and a head strong woman to boot, like he was going to say anything. She would probably court marshal him. The sounds the hospital made were eerie, the light from the glow bar was throwing greenish shadows across the walls.
She took lead, then HB, then Jules picked up the rear, glancing behind them every few steps so they weren't taken by something nasty. The ghosts of the place crowded to him. There were many. people who died quietly, some who died violently, children, old men, young women, they were attracted to him. They appeared to be real to his eyes, like HB or Evadne, but they weren't. He could just feel they weren't of this plane.
He stopped, letting HB and Evadne go ahead of him. He stood amongst the spirits as they gathered to him. They made him feel cold as they gathered energy from him, growing stronger.
"Hello..." Said a small girl. She wore the white smock of a patient, but carried an old rag doll. "You have red hair like my Papa does!" Jules smiled sadly. The ghosts of children always mad him sad, "I have red hair because I come from Scotland, lass." He kneeled to her and let his accent burr. She laughed. "My daddy came from Ireland. He played the guitar. Can you?" "Let him alone, Lucy." Said a woman. She stood near the girl and put a hand on her shoulder. Julius looked up at the woman. She was thin, too thin, with a broad face and long raven hair. She also wore a smock like a paitent and he saw way. Half her face had been burned away. The burn traveled under the smock and he figured that was why she was so thin. He stood, "Hello." "Hello, Spirit Speaker." She put both hands on Lucy's shoulders. Jules had been called many things, but never Spirit Speaker. He knew nothing of the Indians of America, but he ventured to guess she was one. "I am looking for a woman, a doctor. She was trapped in the hospital." "That doctor... oh, I saw her just now, on the fourth floor. She seems to be trying to get to the roof." Said an old man in the crowd, "She was a pretty thing." "That nasty doctor Brown, he is always learing at her," Said another voice Julius couldn't pin point. "Oooh that Dr. Brown. i saw him doing some very bad things in the morgue. You know how I like to go down there to rest?" Said a little old lady near Julius, "I saw him painting a body with something. It looked very unchristian like. Like...witchcraft..." She added quietly.
Jules chewed this over, "Thank you all..." He started back towards where Evadne and HB went, Lucy following him, but the others disbursed.

"If I get out of this..." She panted, checking door after door. Why were they all locked! She managed to get into the stairwell, but the living dead (which in itself was silly. Living dead? But THERE THEY WERE!) had blocked her from getting to the ground floor. Why hadn't she just went out in the first place? Why had she tried to trap that dog thing? To save people, her inner voice sneered.
She rolled her eyes. Everything was quiet. She didn't know where the dog thing was, but it wasn't chasing her so she didn't care. She thought of getting to the roof. She had read something about zombies and the roof. Her brother had gotten The Zombie Survival Guide for his birthday. She had gotten it for him. She had paged through it then wrapped it.
She hit another door, finding it unlocked. "Pay dirt!" She said as she pushed through then stopped. The room was covered in blood, a man stood in the middle of a large blood created pentagram. He was naked. He had his back to her and she could see tattoos all over his body. Evil, vile tattoos. Her eyes widened and she tried to slowly back out as he turned, "AH! Dr. Black!"
"Dr... Brown? Oh God..."

Hellboy wasn't one to take orders, but he was damn tired. Though he would never admit it, he was actually quite glad Evadne was taking charge; it meant less work for him.
At the mention of zombies, Hellboy audibly groaned. "I'm guessing that's the way we need to go," he muttered. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that Julius had stopped walking a while back and seemed to be... talking to himself. He paid it no mind; perhaps it was something useful, maybe he was harnessing his power, or chanting a spell.
None of that interested Hellboy. What caught his attention was a dark shadow moving around behind Jules. The light from the doctor's glow stick glinted off of something in the mystery shadow's head area, and that was all of the evidence Hellboy needed. Without a second thought, the Samaritan was pulled from his holster and a bullet was inserted into the zombie's head with a loud bang that seemed to echo off of the walls.
"Watch your back, Jules," Hellboy called. "Don't wanna get bit by one'a those things.

She struggled in his grasp and she tired desperately to get him to release her. Kicking, scratching, screaming in his ear... nothing seemed to work. He pressed her close to his body and she grimaced. She could feel his half erection between his legs pressing against her. He was slick with blood and it seeped through her jacket. He pressed his mouth to hers, or tried to. She bit his lip viciously as he pulled back, laughing as blood dribbled down his chin.
he pushed her into the middle of the pentagram and she fell on her knees then her side. She gasped in pain as her knees hit the linoleum. He walked around her, looking down at her, "So, my lovely..."
"f**k off." She said as she tried to stand.
He laughed, "You're still my student, it's just time for your next phase of learning... there is only so much you can learn from books..."

Evadne's gaze moved briefly to Julius and her brows furrowed as he appeared to be in some sort of trance. She wasn't sure what the hell was going on with him, but... She had read that he was able to communicate with spirits and the whole lot of things like that. Maybe that's what he was doing.
Her attention flicked over to HB as he fired his gun and she scowled and quickly pushed her way past the huge red demon. "Thanks for the concern on my behalf," she muttered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Though to be perfectly fair, she more than likely would have snapped at him if he'd shown any sort of concern for her wellbeing. She might have even gone so far as to label him as being sexist. Though, thinking about it, that label almost seemed appropriate for Julius. "Oh and I think the creatures all know where we are now, wonderful job."
Shaking her head, she made sure her gun was loaded once again, and carefully slipped around the corner. Immediately, she drew her gun up before her, prepared to shut anything that appeared to be a Zombie.... Well they were there, but they appeared to be tottering their way down the hallway in the opposite direction. "What the...?!" She muttered and looked over her shoulder at the other two agents. "Anyone know why the blood thirsty Zombies aren't attacking us?"

he skidded across the glossy ground as he jerked away from the now dead dead man...zombie creature. he looked up at HB. He kicked himself for letting his guard down. This is why he loathed real zombies. He scambled back to the wall by HB and Evadne, with a nod of thanks to HB, promising to get his a case or two of beer as a real thanks. He kneeled by Evadne, looking around the corner, watching the zombies, gun out and readied. His gingery hair was tossled and he looked to the ghost then to the vampire,
"I have spoken to the spirits of this place and they have told me that there is something.... evil... about this hospital. I picked up the impression of demonic rituals being preformed here. They said that our missing doctor is on the fourth floor."

Evadne glanced at Julius and her brows furrowed. "Well I hadn't figured that there was some sort of evil around here," she said, her voice dripping with obvious sarcasm. She wasn't trying to be rude, OK - that was a lie because she was, but did he really have to state the obvious? "I don't know when I figured it out, maybe it was the body that flew out the window when we were outside?"
Shaking her head, she glanced around the corner again and saw that the zombies had indeed wandered off. "Alright, the cost is clear. I think there's a stairwell at the end of the hall..." She trailed off for a moment before looking over her shoulder at the other two. "That is unless you think that lift would be a better way to go. But either way, they're both in that direction," she said jerking her thumb toward the hallway.
(OOC, I was waiting for HB, but decided to go regardless)

At Evadne's harsh comment, Hellboy shrugged. He opened his mouth to return fire with a witty comeback, but he decided against it. If the suits were to be believed, the vampiress was not one to get into an argument with. That, and she seemed more than willing to take control of the mission, which meant less work on Hellboy's half.
After what seemed to him as a long moment of silence, Hellboy snorted. Loudly. "No, evil? Here? Really?" If he had been a kinder demon, he would've felt bad for ganging up on Julius. However, he wasn't, and he was actually growing annoyed with the doctor's presence. Hellboy couldn't blame him, though; surely he must be nervous, working with both Hellboy and Evadne. They could be a bit harsh, but Jules could use some manning up.
"I think Mayfair should be in the middle," Hellboy stated suddenly, stopping in the middle of the hallway. "If those zombies decide they want a chunk outta Jules here, we're gonna have to protect him." Evadne was dead, so, Hellboy figured, the zombies would want nothing to do with her. As for the demon himself, well, he wasn't sure the walking dead hungered for demon flesh as well, but he'd certainly have more of a chance of fighting them off than Julius would.
"However," began Hellboy as he turned to look at the doctor, "if you go off by yourself, you'll deserve whatever happens to you, got it?"

( OOC: -Raises an eyebrow- You'll find out why Jules is one of my oldest and best used characters. )
Jules closed his eyes, claming himself. he was tired of it coming at him from all sides be he did admit, to himself at least, he deserved some of it. He pinched the bridge of his nose in vexation. Hellboy just lost himself two cases of beer.
“I danna need ta be coddled. I know I maybe tha only human agent in this hospital at tha moment, but I have dealt with zombies before. The undead and tha synthetically created.”
What was he, a kid? Come on. This wasn’t his first mission, “Tha longer we sit here, tha longer the lass could be food.” He was angry and when he was angry, his accent grew thicker. There WAS evil in the hospital and it was laced through every corridor. He rummaged around in his pockets until he pulled out a pair of spectacles. They were round with hooked earpieces. They were rose colored. He slipped them over his eyes and looked around, “Therra spells carved into tha walls,” he ran a hand over the wall where they sheltered at. He knew he felt magic in the air like thick honey around this place.
“One of tha spirits told me tha’ a Dr. Brown painted symbols on tha bodies in tha morgue. I’mma guessing tha zombies came from there. The doctor we are lookin’ for is uptop, tha fourth floor. Don’t worry about my hide, we nee’ta worry about hers. I wouldna be here if I couldna handle myself.” He reached behind and unsheathed his machete. It was three and a half feet of gleaming steel with the handle wound in worn black leather.
He looked at HB, “Who ever kills tha most zombies buys the beer.”
