The Handler
Name: Ingegerd Ann-Marie Gunnarsson
Nickname: Inga, or Ingy
Classification: Scandinavian troll, who looks human in every way except a thick tail that ends in a tip of hair.
Gender: Female
Age & Birthday: 24, February 28th 1984
Appearance: Ingegerd looks mostly...odd, according to other people. You can't really call her ugly, but beautiful sure doesn't fit the bill either. Her face is heart shaped with a small dip in her chin, but her brown eyes are slitted with bags underneath and heavy eyelids, giving her a permanent sleepy appearance. Being a troll, her nose is very prominent, which does not match her small mouth with thin lips at all. She could look decent enough with makeup and flattering clothes, but she'll always be the type that will have to be mostly considered attractive for her personality.
She's 5'7 and weighs about 130 pounds, her figure being a typical pear shape with a small bosom and wide hips that no amount of training or diet have ever managed to fix. Another troll feature is her dark brown, messy hair that can take hours to get under control - it just can't stay in a hairstyle so she mostly just lets it out. It reaches slightly past her shoulders. Her skin is also very pale and sensitive, so she avoids the sun as much as she can. Of course, she also has a tail with the hair at the tip of it being just as messy as the one on her head. Her hands and feet are a bit on the large side, her nails always broken or chewed down.
Attire: Having a tail really makes you limited when it comes to fashion. Ever since Ingegerd was a small girl, she's worn baggy pants and large T-shirts in dark colors. She can't wear a skirt without having the tail tied up and her father has always forbidden her to do that since that made his own tail bent. Many mistake her for being a skater or a boy girl, but she truly is neither, she just have really big issues with her appearance and doesn't want to waste any time on it. She doesn't wear makeup or jewelry, and never really does anything with her hair besides a pony tail. For shoe wear she prefers comfortable sneakers.
The Creation
Name: Ingegerd Gunnarsson
Power List:
1) The ability to shape shift into other people.
2) Weightlessness - she can make herself so light that she can climb up the weakest tree or walk on a thin line of thread between two buildings.
3) The ability to get herself through a keyhole or the thinnest line between a door.
Detailed Power: The ability to take other people's shapes is both a power of self defense and entertainment. Trolls in Scandinavia were notorious with using it for seducing humans, taking the shape of their spouse or lover to trick them into bed. It's a sort of hypnosis combined with mind reading. The troll must look into the eyes of the one they want to trick, and can then "see" the faces of people close to them, as well as their significance. For example, they can know who's your brother, your boss, your worst enemy, and so on. But no specific details, as conversations and past events. This change will withstand touch and can last for hours, but any kind of reflection will reveal it, as well if the troll is touched with silver or pure steel. Of course, the troll does not gain the abilities of the one they turn into.
The ability to make oneself weightless was good when it came to fleeing, the troll could just climb up a tree that couldn't hold their pursuer and then jump through the whole forest. This power can't last longer than about ten minutes though, and the touch of silver, steel or thunder will force the troll down on the ground again.
Getting in and out through key holes was mostly used for stealing from humans. This change can't last longer than a few seconds though - the whole thing looks kind of like the troll is turning into liquid. And if there is silver, pure steel or any ward from a god on either side of the threshold, the troll can't pass.
The Potential
Alignment/Occupation: Unaffiliated and ignorant. She runs a Internet-business designing patterns for costumes used by live
role players, mostly focused on fantasy and medieval. Sometimes she works in her father's tailor shop.
Weapons: None.
Personality: Ingegerd is basically a bitter person. Bitter because she'll never quite fit in among humans, bitter because she's not pretty and bitter because she never will be able to free herself of her father whom she still lives with in Trenton. Being a grown woman, she's not in any way grumpy or rude, but she gives a rather neutral, reserved expression and mostly keeps to herself. Art, costumes and literature are her passions, and she's signed up on several different message boards where she can spend hours discussing her interests. Among people in the blue collar Italian neighbourhood where she and her father lives, she's known as the the twitchy Swede dressmaker's weird daughter that never leaves the house.
She runs a Internet-business where people who are into live role play can send her a sketch for a costume and she will design a pattern. She can even make the costume and send it to the buyer. Ironically enough, most of her orders are for fantasy role plays. For if anything, Ingegerd detests her status as a magical being. She doesn't even really comprehend that there is a whole invisible world out there, but more thinks of herself and her father as a freakish mutation that should just die out.
A very big part of her personality is also her self deceit that she wants nothing more than to move away from her father who refuses to let her leave. The truth is though that she is terrified of being without him, since he is the only one she knows that can ever be trusted with her secret. She is always looking and applying for apartments, only to be constantly sabotaged or discredited by her father.
Besides working and Internet-surfing, she loves to exercise and spend a lot of time going on forest walks. Only in evenings though, since trolls are nocturnal creatures. She also have a secret love for horribly bad soap operas like Days of our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful and often stock up on chocolate and wine to spend a whole night looking on downloaded episodes.
In music she absolutely loves rock and enjoys turning the volume up high and dance to herself while cleaning - only when alone though and with the curtains closed. She'd die of embarrasment if anyone saw her.
Skills: An excellent seamstress and pattern-designer, can draw decently and speaks Swedish fluently, as well as some Italian. A good cook and great with crosswords. Well read within art and literature, with a penchant for celebrity gossip.
Strengths: Intelligence and the ability to hide her feelings quite well. Even when terrified, she looks like she knows exactly what she's doing. A very loyal and good friend to those who know her, whom so far have only been people on the Internet. She is also a moral person who will always stand up for what she believes is right. Respects herself and can never be persuaded to do anything she doesn't want to.
Weaknesses: Very prone to self pity, from everything to her lack of appearance to that she had to grow up without a mother. Being an only child, she has been terribly spoiled and still has problems with letting other people's needs go before her own. She also has no respect for her father and is often very mean and rude to him. Her patience is short, but her determination to always look as secure and calm as possible has given her serious issues with expressing real deep emotions around other people than her father, making her bottle things up until she explodes. Is slightly on the obsessive side when it comes to cleaning and organizing things. Has a tendency to comfort eat when in a bad mood, as well as drinking. Is horribly afraid of thunder and lightning, which probably is part of some trollish genetic memory from when the god Thor of thunder used to hunt them for sport.
The Story
History: Ingegerd was born in Newark. Her father, Sven made a living as a thief using his powers, while her mother Roseanne stayed at home with her - you can't really send a kid with a tail to a daycare center. When Ingegerd was four, Roseanne was run over by a bus when running out the street to pick up an unopened bag of Cheese Doodles someone had dropped. Sven then realized he had to leave his life of crime behind him if he was to be there for his daughter. He turned his partners in crime in to the cops and moved with Ingegerd to Trenton where he got an apprenticeship with an aging Italian tailor. Ingegerd basically grew up in the shop, playing with balls of yarns and cloths on the floor while her father and the tailor worked. Antonio Rossi, as the tailor was called, was a heavy marijuana smoker and bordering on senility so he never caught on that something was not quite right with Ingegerd and Sven. He was the closest Ingegerd ever came to a grandfather, often playing with her and making her cute little dresses. He was also the one who taught her how to sew and speak some Italian. He died when Ingegerd was fourteen, causing her great sorrow.
The most prominent thing in Ingegerd's early life was her father's fear of them being discovered. She was never allowed to wear dresses in public so that the tail wouldn't be noticed and he made her promise over and over and over again that she would never tell anyone what they were. This made her very cautious and nervous when starting school, cramping her social indoctrination considerably. Children can spot those who are different right away, and she was quickly branded "the weird girl". She was never really bullied, but just not included.
When Ingegerd got old enough to understand that her father was being too cautious, it was too late. She was already the quiet girl with the baggy clothes that you just didn't talk to. The loneliness made her turn to books, and she learned to observe people. She quickly understood that it was those that appeared weak that got picked on, leading her to always try and look as confident as possible and she was hence left alone. Which did not mean that she wanted to be alone in any way. Thankfully, the Internet-boom came with the appearance of message boards and chat rooms, which probably saved her from depression.
As previously mentioned, Ingegerd has great issues with her magical heritage. If she would be forced to pick a side, it would be the humans without a doubt. She can use her powers, but with great reluctance. The only reasons she knows how to is because her father forced her and still forces her to train. He has tried several times to get her to come with him to the Troll Market and meet other creatures like them, but she refuses every time.
She finished high school with good grades, but chose not to attend college besides some night classes in pattern construction and sewing. She started her own business when she was twenty two and works in her father's studio from time to time. Her main ambition is to save money to remove her tail and fix her nose so that she can finally be normal.
