The Handler
Name: Dair’Nin
Nickname: Asher
Classification: Dryad
Gender: Male
Age & Birthday: Ageless; born closer to the human month of March
Appearance: His true appearance has not been seen, but shall appear only at his time of death. The form or forms he takes to appear before others ranges in three different shapes. His human shape is that of a well muscled young man of about 25 to 30 years of age. He favors the Irish or Scottish human male, about six feet to six feet five inches. His hair is always short and black, as his facial and body hair. His eye color ranges from hazel to dark green, they change according to season. His body is free of scars but does carry very intricate Elfin knot tattoos over 80% of his humans body. (From ankle to nape of neck). He walks strong and proud in this form, his hands strong as his body.
His second form is that of an aged old man, human. He looks to be about 80 or 90 years old, with a long silver beard and hair, the hair is usually tied back in a pony tail. His body is frail and hunched, his hands knurled with arthritis. His teeth are yellowed, but still his own. Blue veins line his body as do deep wrinkles. He walks slowly, thoughtfully, and deliberately. This is the form he takes to show his true age.
The last form is his tree form, though, slightly smaller. It is human in shape, of that of a well muscled man. He stands seven feet and eight inches. His arms are long, as are his legs and torso. He has no mouth or nose in this form, his face deep set in a bark-like skin that covers his body. His eyes are deep but bright green like spring leaves. From his head grows branches and leaves that twist within themselves from three different trees: Oak, Ash and Thorn. He walks slowly, his body being very heavy. He rarely takes this form, because of it’s slow and weak state. In this form, he is truly a tree, his feet are roots, his legs heavy trunks.
Attire: When in his young, human form, he favors natural clothing. No man made fibers will touch his skin or those made of animal. He wears a black suit: the jacket is tight with a high collar and long hem to about his mid thigh. As an old man, he wears a green and black kilt and high socks with gillies. Other then that, he wears a long green cloak with a deep hood and carried a long walking staff. His tree form wears no clothing, because he has nothing to cover.

The Potential
Alignment/Occupation: Prince Nuada’s Army
Weapons: A large hammer on a staff five feet in length, the head made of bronze, his hands.
Personality: Intense and enigmatic are just two ways to say that he is like a tree. His feelings towards Man will always spark him into a heated debate why man needs to be purged from the Terra. He never speaks out of turn and rarely speaks unless spoken to first. He is thoughtful of his movements and of his speech. Before absorbing his brothers, he was already tough and strong in his own right. In battle, he is merciless, cold, and unfeeling.
He is gentle with smaller creatures, having a soft spot for gnomes and small fairies. He likes to watch things, and is always interested in anything new. He likes to learn. Though he would never admit it, he enjoys a few of the perks brought about by humans: Miracle Grow, which he drinks like ale, sunlamps, which he likes to use during winter, television, he likes cartoons. His thinking is very simple, he dislikes deep thinking all the time, which is what he did during his isolation.
Skills: He learned battle tactics during his time in Balor’s army. He is more then proficient in the use of the hammer in battle, but he can also use a sword, knives, and if need be, an axe. He knows many languages: bird, elfish, the tongue of Man, gnomish, and the wind (Listening and reading the tone of voices carried through the breeze). He learned to read from discarded newspapers and magazines. He learned how to pick pockets, which allowed him to see movies and rent hotel rooms to watch TV. He learned how to work electronic devices (TV, VCR, DVD, remote controls, cell phones) from the homeless he mingled with during his time trying to find Nuada.
Strengths: Asher is passionate to what he believes in. He is a loyal soldier, a kind person, and devoted to his kind. He is easy going, not one to start a ruckus. He enjoys a good fight, but only if its fair.
Weaknesses: He is deathly frightened of flame, but hides it. He dislikes the cold and snow, afraid of ice when he is in his tree form snapping his branches. He is distracted by bright colors and cartoons.
The Story
History: Born of Oak, of Ash, and of Thorn, three babies came into the world by a Meliain mother. The triplets were a joy to their fathers but a hideous burden upon their mother. She loathed that she had given birth to the children of trees, for she had fell in love with a mortal man. She tried to have them killed to be with her human lover, but her sister nymphs smuggled them away to the North. They were given to the faerie folk of The Northern Forest. Being of tree, the three were planted and cultivated with much care. The three brothers grew together and prospered.
Man had yet to set foot within the forest. The fae were always careful to avoid Man and his destructive ways. The truce between Man and the fairy folk had been taken very seriously, at least by the fae. When Man entered the forest was a dark day. No fairy-folk larger then gnomes and pixies lived within the forest Asher and his brothers lived in and Man ravaged it. Man used the wood for his homes and fires without asking the trees for it. He used wood for his weapons and furniture without giving thanks for it. This is the time Asher lost his brother Oaken. Oaken was struck down by a hunter.
The brothers had learned to walk and run within the forest, free and happy for several centuries before Man arrived. Each discovered a special talent. Oaken was strong as the stone. Thorn was as agile and stealthy as the wind. Asher could heal himself quickly. When Oaken died, Asher learned he had a second gift. He took the heart of his brother into himself and gained Oaken‘s strength. He and Thorn fled the forest and Man.
They traveled for a time, among the fae world, avoiding Man. They traveled down until they entered the forest of their fathers. Their mother was long gone, but their fathers still remained and they were happy to be rejoined with their sons. They lived among their fathers for many more decades, playing with the nymphs, teasing birds, and generally just rooting themselves with their fathers, sharing in their wisdom.
It was here that they learned from other dryads, to change their shape. They took on the shape of Man and ventured into their towns to learn more about their hated foe. The more Asher saw, the more he loathed Man. Thorn on the other hand, became entranced with Man. He left the grounds of the fathers and his brother to live among Man. Asher was left heart broken for his brother. He feared Thorn was lost to him, especially since the flavor of war was on the wind. Asher learned of war from his short time with Man. The Elves were drawing armies against Man, who had become greedy and wanted more then their lot.
Asher took up the cause on the side of the good King Balor. Asher fought in the battles and discovered he fought against his brother, whom he killed. Asher had been granted a special hammer made with the wood of his own father tree. He used this hammer against Thorn, who had taken a different form then Asher was accustomed to. He knew Thorn as soon as the bronze of the hammer struck him and Asher held his brother as he died. Asher took in Thorn’s heart along with his eyes. Asher stayed with the body of Thorn until the war was done and Asher returned to the grounds of their fathers, planting himself in sorrow, and there he stayed.
For centuries, Asher grew wild, the voices of the father trees slowly becoming silent as they grew older. The other dryads moved on to other forests, the nymphs slowly died out and soon, only Asher was left with his thoughts. Birds spoke to him, for all trees know the language of birds, King Balor was dead. Asher was saddened, as if another brother had died. Asher shook the dirt from his roots and slowly regained his footing on top of the soil. He took his human form to go among Man once more to find it very different. He lived among the humans as he learned more about the death of Balor.
He learned that an army was rising once again, by King Balor’s son, The Silverlance. He ventured out to find The Silverlance and declare of Oak, of Thorn, of Ash, he would stand by the Prince.
