The Potential
Alignment/Occupation: Medical Doctor/ Medical Examiner
Weapons: None
Personality: In her working life, she is very straight forward and determined to do her best all the time. She doesn’t like to slack off and feels she must be doing something all the time to make her time worth while. She seems to come off serious, unless dealing with patients, then she tried to be as warm and friendly as possible. She dislikes people who don’t do their fair share of the work, and will tell them so. She is stern with staff members who don’t do their work correctly, but pretty much leaves those that do good work alone. She is shy of males, not wanting to be distracted by romantic relationships. This attitude pertains to her work life only, which is about 80% of her time anyway.
During her down time, she is rather laid back and goofy. She’s a little forgetful at times. Her face and body language is very expressive of what she is thinking, a habit she picked up in her high school days. She fell in love with Japanese animation (and still collects it) and was obsessed with it during her school days and because of this, she believes anything is possible. She has infinite patients with the elderly and children, but not a whole lot with anyone else. She is quick to speak her mind or at least mutter her opinion.
Skills: She is a medical doctor specializing in anatomical/ forensic pathology. She can understand spoken Japanese and read a little of it, and speak it a little. She can ride a motorcycle, a unicycle, and juggle.
Strengths: She is a strong leader, a quick study, not easily intimidated, a trusting person, a loyal friend, a good companion, and a dreamer. She is a very good diagnostician.
Weaknesses: She dislikes raisins, cranberries, or dates. She is shy of men. She wears her heart on her sleeve and says the wrong thing at the wrong times too often. She has a strong weakness for cute things, her apartment filled with stuffed animals and the such, much like a teenage girl (another throwback to her love of anime.) She smokes, chews her lips when she is nervous, and is bad with animals.
The Story
History: Born into a military family, she was the third child of eight. She often battled her siblings for her parents attention as they moved around. They weren’t a very religious family, though her mother is Protestant and her father is Baptist. Her father was a Marine Corp. captain, her mother was a nurse. They moved too many times for her to make friends during school, so she often played with her siblings and they grew close, despite the usually sibling bickering. Susanne was a tad resentful towards her father for moving them around so much, but she never voice this opinion. She knew how hard he and her mother worked, but as she got older and was looked to to take care of the smaller children, she butted heads with her father many times.
Her family had settled into a small New Jersey community near her grandmother. They actually stayed in the same house for a little more then two years and Susanne settled into a comfortable life and made some good friends. It hit her hard when her father got orders for a transfer over seas. Susanne, called Sister by her family, had went to her mother and father, after talking to her grandma, and asked if she could stay. They agreed, a little half heartedly, and Sister was able to move into her grandmother’s home with her older brother Jim and her sister Carla, who was a year younger then Sister. They were tired of moving from place to place and liked where they lived.
It was strange getting used to living with only three other people, but she reveled in the peace of it. She blossomed into her junior high years and discovered anime and manga through her friends. She ate it up and spent the bulk of her money on videos and books over the coming years. These same friends also taught her how to ride a unicycle and juggle. They were drama-type people. She helped with sets for plays, but never went out for a part in school productions.
She kept in close touch with her family over seas and when they moved back when she was in high school, visited often, but did not move back in when her brother and sister did. She felt bad for leaving her grandmother alone. Also, she liked having her own room. When she was in the 10th grade, her grandmother had a stroke, leaving her partially paralyzed on her left side. Sister, becoming so close with her grandmother, took care of her with the help of a visiting nurse. This care of her grandmother prompted her to take up medicine. She set her sights on Harvard Medical once she graduated school.
She worked hard on her studies, caring for her grandmother, and still had time for her extra curricular activities. Her grandmother passed away when she was 17, leaving Sister with a small fortune. This caused bad blood between her and some of her siblings, to this day has never been resolved. She used the money to put herself through school, first at Albany Medical School, then transferred to New Jersey Medical School to be closer to her family.
Medical school wasn’t the horrors she was told it would be by the siblings that would actually talk to her. She actually liked the strange hours she had to keep and the hard work. She welcomed it. It was a distraction from the fights she had with her older brothers. They were mad about the money her grandmother gave her. They felt they were entitled, even if her mother and father felt Sister had earned it. She made very few friends during these years of her life, but the other interns knew she was always up for taking hours at the hospital if they had something to do.
She graduated from New Jersey Medical School with honors. She was a little disappointed she never made it to Harvard, but after her internship at the Sacred Hearts Hospital in New Jersey, she was just happy to be a doctor. She has specialized in pathology, working mostly in the morgue. She had started her second internship in pathology under Dr. Evert Brown. Dr. Brown, the county coroner, has seen some weird stuff during his 20 year run as county coroner. He keeps a file of all the strange autopsies he has preformed. At first, when Sister found the files, it creeped her out, but as she looked through them, she had been fascinated. She usually keeps the file on the desk for when she as a moment to read it.
This is where she currently works. She shares an apartment with her boyfriend very near the hospital so she can walk there. She had met her boyfriend at the hospital, the cousin of a man who was in intensive care. He was the first real relationship she had ever had. They had been sleeping together for about a year when she realized she just didn’t love him. Currently, she works all the time to avoid him, unsure of how to break it off with him.
