THE HANDLER
NAME: Aoife Róisín
NICKNAME: N/A
CLASSIFICATION: Elf
GENDER: Female
AGE & BIRTHDAY: Ageless -- She has been around for millenia, and will continue to do so if no harm were to come to her.
APPEARANCE: Aoife does not have the high stature of her people. She only rises to 5'8 as opposed to those who are either 6' or taller in her race. She has a slender figure and weighs no more than 150 lbs. Her fingers are long and spindly, and her body possesses the curves of a woman in the hips and bosom enough to distinguish her sex beyond a doubt.
Her skin is as white as fresh milk and her hair fairer than corn silk. Her eyebrows stand out in sharp contrast against her pale skin, taking on a dark brown or black color. Her eyes are the color of soil, and her lips are usually painted a vivid red.
ATTIRE: Aoife relishes wearing the beautiful silk robes of an elven maiden of her social grace and standing. The robes posses long, billowy sleeves and abundant skirts. She favors the color white, as it draws the light to her and seems to make her outshine all the others with excessive fairness, but she also will wear violent red robes if she is in a particularly dour mood, or to make a visual contrast to those around her.
PLAY BY: Anne Hathaway
THE CREATION
NAME: None
POWER LIST: Magic
DETAILED POWER: As is a trait to her people, Aoife is able to control some magic -- but no more than perhaps putting up a temporary barrier or pulling a weapon from across the room. Magic was never her forte.
THE POTENTIAL
ALIGNMENT/OCCUPATION: Fantasy Realm
WEAPONS: Aoife keeps a silver knife hidden in the front right breast of her robes at all times. If circumstances call for more powerful weaponry, she will wear a sword and she knows how to wield it enough to deflect blows until someone else can solve the perpetrator for her.
PERSONALITY: Aoife does her best to appear demure and calm to all those watching -- she almost always carries a placid expression on her face, while behind her visage she may be plotting or scheming. She is a diplomat first and foremost, and she has to make sure to say what she can to assure the other party, even if she never intends on following through with it. She has become acquainted with the humans' idea of 'Democracy' and is intoxicated by the idea. She is determined to bring this philosophy to her people, a people torn by war and deceit. She is certain that if she can bring democracy to the elves, they will flourish under majority rule and eventually gain dominion over man once more.
Aoife is focused on her goals -- she doesn't much care for romance or leisure, as those are simply a waste of time until she can reap the benefits of her work. She often is the first to wake up in the morning in her household and the last to go to bed in pursuit of her own special utopia. She is driven, or manic some would say, to bring democracy and peace back to her people, and she is prepared to do whatever it takes to bring her ideal to her people, even if it means sacrificing her own life.
SKILLS: Since Aoife can remember, she has been trained in diplomacy to strengthen the relations between the various castes of elves in the fantasy world. She can be very amiable, very compromising, or she can be a sharp-tongued harpy. She has reasonable skill with her knife in close combat, and she knows enough swordsmanship to defend herself -- however, she was never very good at offense. She is charismatic and can persuade those with lesser intellects to join her cause quickly -- and to defend her if need be.
STRENGTHS: Aoife is a diplomat first and foremost. She excels at compromising, persuasion, and crying for those to rally to her cause. With a simple inflection of her voice or self-righteous anger, she can sway the unsure to her side.
WEAKNESSES: Aoife is not skilled in combat. She is a diplomat, she was never meant for battle. One-on-one with someone, she would most likely die, especially if there was no one for her to call upon for aid.
THE STORY
HISTORY: Aoife was the first daughter born to the Róisín clan millenia ago when the earth was still new. Her brothers were destined to become warriors, but when her parents saw her acute intellect and calculating mind, they determined she was destined for something greater than marriage or leisure. They sent her to the court of King Balor to be trained as a diplomat for the elven king and to serve him well. For centuries, Aoife slept, drank, and breathed nothing but diplomacy. She kept peace with dozens of different castes of elves and fantastic creatures at the bidding of King Balor, and she relished her victories.
When King Balor and the humans struck a peace treaty after the debacle with the Golden Army, Aoife was jealous at the time that she could not take credit for such an accomplishment, but it was purely the workings of King Balor. As the years progressed, though, she was glad she did not do such a thing to her people. Man pushed the elves back and back, further into the recesses of the forests as they expanded and eventually gained dominion over the earth. Aoife pled with King Balor to send her to negotiate with the humans and rework the peace treaty, but the king always insisted that keeping the peace treaty was what the elves were meant to do. Aoife began to see how inefficient the monarch was becoming, unwilling to change, unwilling to adapt to save his people.
As the centuries progressed and Aoife continued to keep up with information the governments of the expanding race of Man, she learned of a concept called 'Democracy' where each person was given a say in the running of government. She particularly kept an eye on the nation that would one day become the United States of America and watched as their democracy evolved into something more, something never before seen. This, Aoife was convinced, this was what the elven people needed. They didn't need some monarch telling them what to do, denying them their right to defend what was theirs. Try as she might, though, Aoife never found a sympathetic ear among her people. They had followed Balor for millenia, they were not ready to stop now. Aoife sat back and waited for an opportunity to present itself where she could offer her views to the king, and perhaps to the court as a whole.
She didn't have to wait long. When Prince Nuada returned from exile in a bid to wage war on the humans and reclaim the lands and position of the elves, he killed King Balor for the crown piece that would control the Golden Army. His sister, Princess Nuala, fled, and he chased after her. With that, the elven kingdom was flung into anarchy -- who would take the throne? Would Nuada return, as the only son, or would Nuala? In this chaos, Aoife took the chance to speak her mind and her views -- the elven people didn't need the prince or princess -- they only needed themselves! Aoife was able to garner support, but most elves thought the idea absurd -- to be ruled over by someone who was not of royal blood! Preposterous! And so now, Aoife waits for the return of the prince and princess -- and for whatever opportunity that may bring.
