[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,2,true][atrb=cellspacing,1,true][atrb=width,450,true][bg=131313] Just a few helpful tips when creating your characters. Give it a read through. ◊ Know the fandom. Pretty standard stuff, all we ask is that you’ve at least seen the movies. If you haven’t, try the comics or even the cartoons, but do know that each universe varies from one another. You don’t have to have read the comics, as this game is set in the movieverse. We’re allowing some comic canon but we’re keeping it simple. If you’ve seen the live action movies, you’re good to go. ◊ Do your research. Granted, it's a post apocalyptic world overrun by the supernatural, but there still aren’t 12 year old psychiatrists running around. We're a game made of myths and legends, so don't forget those either. Abe’s not asking you to whip out ancient manuscripts and textbooks and pour over them for hours, just use a little common sense and keep with tradition, aka faeries are allergic to cold iron, silver can kill a werewolf, that sort of thing. Currently there are different variations of some races and you’re free to explore them, we just don’t want to see something so horribly unreal it becomes ridiculous. ◊ Don’t be perfect. No one is perfect and that can get boring fast. Characters are good and bad, their flaws are what make them interesting. You can combine the common and the usual to make a wonderful character. ◊ Goal setting. Make it impossible or realistic, creating a challenge for your character gives you different opportunities to explore and create your character in a new light. ◊ Position/Place in the world. Even if your character is nothing but a thief, they’ve still got a place in the world. Give your character a reason for being where they are. Are they going to stay there, their whole lives? Or are they going to change. ◊ Growth. Is your character starting out at the bottom or at the top? Either case, leave them room to grow. It allows you and your character a chance to explore new things and make themselves better or worse. ◊ Romance. Some canon characters are already taken, married and whatnot and all we ask if that we respect each other. If a player and their characters are not interested in a romantic plot or are already involved in one, don’t harass them. No surprise children or lovers unless you work it out with each other and staff approves it. Don’t create a one dimensional character just for the nookie, that’s no fun for anyone. ◊ Stereotypes. No one really likes them, yet they still on occasion pop up. No one fits into a perfect little box. Expand, rip apart that box and don’t be afraid to try new things. There is no standardized image to fall into. |
