Solaufein squirmed down in his chair as the talking became louder and louder. "Stupid surface apes and their need for mindless discourse," Sol muttered to himself, trying his best to finish a particularly interesting chapter on the creation of an animated skeleton. Since his arrival the day before, Sol had managed to meet exactly two people - his "handler" and Manning, the leader of the B.P.R.D. Otherwise he had managed to stay in quiet rooms with stacks of books, reading quietly about whatever struck his fancy at the time.
It was wonderful.
And all the people were ruining it.

"Hey," said a nearby gruff voice. Solaufein attempted not to look up, he didn't want to talk to anyone, he just wanted them all to leave the library so he could read.
"Hey. Hey. HEY. I'm talkin' to you," said the voice again, only it was followed by a large stone finger pulling Sol's book down away from his face.
Sol visibly shrunk at the sight of Hellboy. He had been told, of course, about the great red demon, but it was still a bit of a shock. Hellboy himself wasn't even looking at Solaufein, instead he was staring over at Abe and Nuala on the other side of the library. He was sitting, and had pulled the chair all the way next to Sol's. "You know what's going on over there? Are they making the (he made a kissy face, accompanied by sounds) over there? Or is Abe still actin' the chicken?" He asked, smiling slightly.
"I...I don't know who those people are," Sol said in a strained voice. His voice sounded like sandpaper, rough and broken, and the sound made Hellboy actually turn to look at the young Dark Elf. "Wait, I don't know you. You one of them, uh, new guys we got recently right? Whole hell of you just seemed to crop up over night here. What're you, some kind of Mummy guy?" Hellboy said earnestly.
"Mu-mummy? Ah...well...well I suppose my bandages would lead you to think...no, I'm a Dark Elf," Sol said quietly and somewhat awkwardly.
"Oooh, sorry. Someone messed you up pretty good then I take it. That sucks, you okay?" Hellboy continued, already losing his concentration about Abe and Nuala.
"I'll be fine. Thank you," Sol replied politely.
"Eh," Hellboy said with a shrug, "What's your name anyway?"
"Solaufein De'Vir," Sol said quietly, "And I know who you are...you're the Hellboy."
"It's just Hellboy kid. Or Red if I like ya enough," Hellboy said with a nodding smirk.
"So which do I call you?" Solaufein quietly asked.
"Haven't decided yet," Hellboy began, "Shush though, I think the action's getting good." He gestured toward Abe and Nuala, his attention suddenly shifting back to them, and quietly watched. Solaufein, unsure of what to do next, joined him.

Bella gently slid another book from it's place on the shelf. Bella was a huge fan of Shakespeare. The book she pulled was 'Othello' one of Shakespeare's great Tragedy's. Bella didn't even hear anyone in the library anymore, she had closed of her ears to concentrate on the books. Turning around, her eyes spotted someone she hasn't met before. Hey eyes wide with surprise she dropped her books.
Her heart began to race, she felt her pulse quicken, the air around her body began to swirl like a tornado. Letting her eyes adjust to the new scene. She calmed down and so did the air in the room. Praying that no one saw her little..'mishap'. Picking up her books she cleared her throat. "Hi" she smiled her watery blue eyes scanned the people that were standing in front of her.

Hellboy turned his head slightly, to look back at the girl speaking. "Another new kid," he grunted with a slight smirk, "Where do you all come from anyhow?"
Solaufein looked over to the girl lazily, he still wasn't a particular fan of humans, but when he spied the book in her hands he perked right up. "Othello," he said in his croaky damaged voice.
"What was that?" Hellboy muttered, his interest having already returned to Abe and Nuala.
"Othello. A great tragedy from William Shakespeare. It concerns Othello, his wife Desdemona, his lieutenant Cassio, and his trusted advisor Iago and is thematically carries racism, love, jealousy, and betrayal. It's a beautiful story of the destructive nature of humans," Sol said calmly, almost mechanically, his single shown eye staring intently at the book.
Hellboy turned slowly to look at Sol a moment, an eyebrow raised. "Well hello Encyclopedia Brown," he said with a slight chuckle.
Sol shifted uncomfortably in response. "It was the first play I read," he said with a slight shrug, "I enjoyed it. Perhaps identified with it in some ways, I am not sure."

Frankie had just finished her late breakfast in the cafeteria and was thinking of going to her room when she passed by the library door. True, she already had a book out that she had almost finished, but what was the harm in getting another? She was sure they wouldn't charge her for too many books being out, heavens.
Slipping in quietly, past the group that was assembled as a kind of welcoming party or whatever, Frankie darted behind some of the back row of books. She scanned the title. "Russia: A History." "Soviet Russia." "Revolution! The Story of Russia and the Path to Communism." Perfect. All she needed was more knowledge about that damned country. Frankie darted into the next row of books just as someone spoke.
>>"Othello. A great tragedy from William Shakespeare. It concerns Othello, his wife Desdemona, his lieutenant Cassio, and his trusted advisor Iago and is thematically carries racism, love, jealousy, and betrayal. It's a beautiful story of the destructive nature of humans."<<
Cocking an eyebrow, Frankie looked through the bookshelf to see who had spoken. A bandaged form was the one who had spoken, and with him was Hellboy. Frankie didn't know the demon well or personally, especially since most of her career with the BPRD was spent in Russia, but she still felt a comradeship with the demon since they both lived longer than humans and really didn't have an existence outside of the bureau. Hellboy spoke next .
>>"Well hello Encyclopedia Brown."
"It was the first play I read. I enjoyed it. Perhaps identified with it in some ways, I am not sure."<<
Frankie's lips twisted in thought. Othello. Julius Caesar. Macbeth. Romeo and Juliet. Was it just her, or was almost all of Shakespeare's works about the destructive nature of humans? She stepped into sight of Hellboy and the bandaged one and decided to make her thoughts known. "Is it just me, or is almost every well-known work by Shakespeare about the destructive nature of humans?"

Solaufein was far too lost in his own thoughts to hear the approaching woman, and jumped slightly when she spoke. He stood up, feeling somewhat boxed in by all the people that had come begun speaking around him. He stood off to side somewhat, staring at the ground and running Frankie's words over in his head.
HB yawned, growing tired of Abe's stuttering and Nuala's seemingly oblivious nature, and turned to nod at Frankie. "Heya Bones. Checking out more books on the ruskies? How are them commies treating you?" Hellboy quipped with a grin.
He opened his mouth to speak again, with Solaufein interrupted.
"I wouldn't say that all the works of Shakespeare involve the destructive nature of the human creature. But I suppose they all involve the folly of them. Even A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet involve such themes. Although I suppose, Romeo and Juliet is perhaps known better for it's thematic romance and tragic ending, I would say that it concerns more the ignorance of Romeo and the far too young Juliet as two immature individuals coping with a purely physical relationship in a destructive way. Mercutio, I would say, is fully logical and intelligent, he's the least human of the group and has several good bits of dialogue, especially his ending....speech...and....furthermore....um....sorry...sorry," Solaufein blurted out, before slowly coming to a meek conclusion.
"Holy crap kid, what are you?" Hellboy grunted.

The bandaged person...Now that was weird, even by BPRD standards. They didn't usually let burn victims in, you know? Frankie's arms were crossed as she looked at the person who looked like a living mummy. And he didn't look too sociable either. Well, whatever. Most agents usually were somewhat emotionally scarred and thus unsociable anyway. At least at first.
>>"Heya Bones. Checking out more books on the ruskies? How are them commies treating you?" Hellboy quipped with a grin.<<
"Oh, you know Red. Same old same old. After spending thirty or so years getting killed and shot at by the same people, when you finally make it back, you yearn for them again. And the damn dratted cold." A smile tugged at Frankie's lips. She liked Hellboy. He had a good head on his shoulders.
Hellboy was going to say more, but then the bandaged person began with a long analysis of several William Shakespeare plays. Frankie's arms dropped to the side and her lips parted as she listened. And wow.
>>"Holy crap kid, what are you?" Hellboy grunted.<<
"They're almost like tales not to live by then. Or to take example from. Like the Bible, the Torah, The Koran..." Frankie said quietly. "Let me guess...you're new here and you're most likely going to be working with Abe, right?"

"That's what I like about you Bones. Willing to say damn and drat in the same damned sentence," Hellboy chuckled, patting Frankie on the back. Patting her perhaps a little too hard for her thin frame. "And I bet your right. Or at least damn close. I heard we were getting in some book-worm types. Guess Abe's getting himself some subordinates. That what you're here for kid?"
Solaufein shifted nervously, he really needed to stop blurting things out. "Well no, not quite. I mean...well I've yet to meet anyone really. Beyond you people. And Mr.Manning. And Agent Bronze. But no Abe. I, well I prefer solitude. You don't think they'll make me work with anyone will they?"
Hellboy merely broke into loud boisterous laughter.
Solaufein shifted again. The laughter wasn't a good sign.

Frankie lurched forward slightly and an 'Oof' was just barely audible escaping from her lips. Hellboy man, what a grip. And handshake. And punch. "I think it's just the dainty way we Brits organize our conversation. How many cultures can say a word, like bloody, that means something like the eff-word here in a America, and slip it in and out of conversation so bloody smoothly?" She paused. "Like that."
>>"Well no, not quite. I mean...well I've yet to meet anyone really. Beyond you people. And Mr. Manning. And Agent Bronze. But no Abe. I, well I prefer solitude. You don't think they'll make me work with anyone will they?"<<
Hellboy began laughing and Frankie couldn't help but smile either. "Kid, the bureau is mainly about teamwork, especially when you have a big bad that's hell-bent on destroying innocent people. Two 'freaks,' as we're so kindly called," Frankie nudged Hellboy's arm in a comradely way, "Are better than one. So yeah, I think they'll make you work with someone. Or maybe you can still amend your resume with a 'Doesn't work well with others' heading." She paused. She didn't even know the bandaged one's name.
"Which reminds me, what's your name? I'm Francesca Guidicini. Frankie. Bones. Call me one of those and we'll get along fine."

Solaufein fidgeted slightly, and grew silent as he felt himself become uncomfortable yet again. At the woman's statement about protecting innocents, Sol had frowned, though it could not be discerned from his bandaged face. He did not reply to her statement, he couldn't do so without lying, and he felt it might cause an uncomfortable situation if he told the woman that he couldn't care less if humans died. She looked human enough, she'd probably take offense to Sol's notion that most of the land apes deserved a bit of destruction.
The silence carried for a few seconds, as Sol's internal monologue and thought process carried itself out. "Uh...kid?" Hellboy grunted suddenly, snapping the bandaged dark elf out of his thoughts.
Sol jumped slightly at this, and shifted again, nervous and self conscious. "My full name would be...is...um, Lord Solaufein De'Vir, son of King Valas De'Vir, crown first Prince of the Southern Kingdom. Or so my....my...or so Master Pavel told me. It is a serviceable enough name. Sol suits fine as well. As a shorter version," Sol said slowly, one hand gripping his book tightly, the other scratching at his neck nervously.
Hellboy whistled, looked over to Frankie with his brow raised. "A bona fide Prince! Whatta yah make of that Bones?"
"They told me my...code name? My code name, was white," Solaufein muttered softly, "An irony they indulged. I suppose."

Frankie just stared at the bandaged person as he seemed to be mulling over his name in his head. Was this kid for real? Frankie looked questioning at Hellboy for a second and turned back to look at the still silent person. "If you want, I can call you Bandaid--" She began when he finally spoke.
>>"My full name would be...is...um, Lord Solaufein De'Vir, son of King Valas De'Vir, crown first Prince of the Southern Kingdom. Or so my....my...or so Master Pavel told me. Frankie met Hellboy's look. "Holy crap." Her expression seemed to say. So there was another member of royal blood in the Bureau besides that Princess...Frankie vaguely wondered if she and Sol were cousins.
>>"A bona fide Prince! Whatta yah make of that Bones?"<<
"I say holy crap to that, the Bureau's arm is sure getting longer by the day. I mean, we used to be lucky every time they hauled one of us part-human things in. Now we're getting royalty."
>>"They told me my...code name? My code name, was white," Solaufein muttered softly, "An irony they indulged. I suppose." <<
"I like Bandaid better." Frankie said, nodding. "I think it suits you better. But then again, I have been called a 'bitch' in the past." She shrugged.

>>"I say holy crap to that, the Bureau's arm is sure getting longer by the day. I mean, we used to be lucky every time they hauled one of us part-human things in. Now we're getting royalty."<<
Solaufein cocked his head to the side. Had she just referred to himself and the demon as 'part-human?' How insulting! But perhaps Sol misheard, or misunderstood. He would ignore it for now.
"Hardly....hardly true royalty. I have never seen it. Taken too young, Master Pavel told me, taken too young to remember any of it. Not even their faces," Solaufein said calmly, "Not! Not...not that I would claim to miss them. Or to regret...simply...curious, as to what they looked like."
"Think you skipped a few steps there kid," Hellboy said, "You've never seen what? Don't remember what?"
"Oh! Oh, excuse me. No. No I have not ever seen my kingdom. So I would not consider myself Royalty in the truest sense," Sol deftly explained.
>>"I like Bandaid better." Frankie said, nodding [in reference to Sol's codename]. "I think it suits you better. But then again, I have been called a 'bitch' in the past." She shrugged.<<
Sol straightened up at the comment. Directly looking at Frankie for the first time in their conversation. The look was wearying, tired. It was just like a surface ape to banter about crude remarks as though they were nothing. "Was that meant as an insult? You'll excuse me, but I am not perhaps as quick witted as others," Sol said, breaking his momentary gaze yet again.
Hellboy let out a long breath, smiled, and slid sideways slightly away from Frankie. This was her problem now.
"My 'band-aids' as you called them, are necessary to a point. My time before this has left me injured....w...weak," Sol said softly in his croaky voice. He held his arm up, to make apparent his frailty, and it shook under the mere strain of being kept motionless and aloft. "I actually think I'm...hmm...doing better now. But it has been some time."

Frankie stood with her arms crossed as Sol and Hellboy talked about his kingdom. It made her wonder the way Sol talked about never seeing it. Was he in exile or something else? Bah. It wasn't her problem. Still, curiosity was the gift the gods gave to Pandora. Frankie pushed her questions away. She didn't even know the kid anyway.
>>"Was that meant as an insult? You'll excuse me, but I am not perhaps as quick witted as others," Sol said, breaking his momentary gaze yet again.<<
"Not exactly. More an observation." Frankie looked straight back at Sol without any remorse for her words, or any hint of a coming apology. That wasn't her style. She heard Hellboy exhale and slowly begin to move away from her. She almost grinned. Did HB think the two would come to blows? "You never know, some nicknames turn out to be endearing. Plus, we all have names that suit us. Hellboy is Red, Abe is Blue, I'm Bones. Bandaid seems to suit you better than white." She stated this without any hint of ridicule or criticism. Like she said, she was simply making an observation.

Frankie arched one of her eyebrows. "Huh." She said absentmindedly. What else was she supposed to say? 'Sorry you've been tortured/hurt/injured by whatever-in-the-hell?' "Well...You'll get lots of recuperative rest until we have a mission. I guess."

Solaufein was unphased by Frankie's cavalier attitude, and mild rudeness. He expected it from humans. All she was doing was reinforcing Sol's want to be left alone, and his dislike of humans. He doubted she cared. He thought about replying, but knew that regardless of what he said, 'bandaid' was her new nickname for him. Human could be such aggressively ignorant and crude creatures.
But what was in a name anyhow?
>>Frankie arched one of her eyebrows [ at Sol's mention of his bandages]. "Huh." She said absentmindedly. "Well...You'll get lots of recuperative rest until we have a mission. I guess."<<
"Some, I suppose, is better than none," Solaufein said quietly, "It has taken me some time to reach this point in my recuperation. I would rather not go on these...'missions,' but I suppose I will have to. Per my agreement with this place."
"Yup. You gotta work for your room and board here," Hellboy grunted.
"Then I will be here some time. I owe the facility for two years of care," Solaufein said after a quiet pause.

Frankie cast a look at Hellboy, arching an eyebrow. Two years? How in the heck had he been around for two years and Frankie was just now meeting him? Frankie paused in her thinking. Oh yeah. There was that whole being in Russia for almost thirty years.
"Two years?" She echoed, looking from Hellboy to Sol and back. "Have you honestly been around for two years? Have you just been somewhere else? Like me, I've been with the bureau for almost three decades and stuck in God-forsaken Russia. Where have you been if you've been here two years?"
