The Handler
Name: Shyrillia Oakenheart (pronounced Shurr-RILL-lee-AH)
Nickname: --
Classification: Dryad
Gender: Female
Age & Birthday: 2200+ years; a conclave of Elven druids brought Shyrillia into being at the beginning of spring to guard a circle of oak trees that rest at the heart of a rapidly-declining ancient-growth forest in Oregon.
Appearance: Mirroring the oak trees that house her life force, Shyrillia's appearance changes as the seasons do. No matter the season though, Shyrillia is 5'5" and about 320lbs. Her upperbody appears like that of a shapely, beautiful female Elf with delicate limbs and small breasts. Medium-length hair falls just past her shoulders in a jumble of waves and ringlets, two daintily tapered ears parting her hair on either side of her narrow face. Round cheeks, small nose and chin, and thin eyebrows give her a neutral, and sometimes coolly detached expression. Her lower body, however, beginning below her navel, is that of a faun; thin, spindly legs, cloven hooves, spotted rump and short bobtail.
During spring and summer, Shyrillia's complexion is a brilliant leaf-green and her hair a golden-brown reminiscent of rich, fertile loam. Her almond-shaped eyes glow a muted mint-green and leaves of various hues and shape sprout behind her ears and along the crown of her head, looking very much like a tiara. Her lowerbody maintains a brown pelt with soft white spots on her rump, just like a newborn faun.
As Autmun closes in and Winter approaches, all the colour seems to leech from Shyrillia's body. Her gleaming curls fade to a dull blue-grey and the leaves adorning her head wither to a few blackened vines. Her entire body bleaches to a blue-white with the spots on her rump looking more like blemishes. Finally, her eyes lose their light green glow and take on a faint silvery luminescence.
Due to the Glamour, Shyrillia appears as a common white-tailed doe to those unknowing of her true nature.
Attire: Unperturbed by heat or cold (except in the extremes), Shyrillia dresses simply and somewhat revealingly. Silk bodices designed to look like leaves and vines are her staple garment, all earthtoned and plant colours to compliment her complexion. These blouses are all Elven made; she refuses to let human garb touch her skin. Shyrillia also loves jewelry, and the shinier the better (it should also be mentioned that she's completely indifferent to who/what crafted any jewelry she comes across). Numerous rings adorn her slender fingers, and bracelets often jangle musically on her narrow wrists. Arm cuffs designed to look like creeping vines wrap around her biceps, while silk and delicate chains decorate her legs below the knee (yes, all four). During her warm season colouration, Shyrillia favours gold and copper jewelry; in winter she prefers silver.
The Creation
Name: As this is a time of war, Shyrillia has changed the 'heart' prefix of her surname to 'glaive'.
Power List: Tree empathy, tree step, vines
Detailed Power:
Tree empathy - By placing a hand on a tree, any tree, Shyrillia is able to communicate with it with her mind. She herself understands instantly, but a tree's conscience is alien and utterly different from any animal or person, so it takes time for her to translate if need be. Ancient trees are a font of knowledge and lore, so it happens more than one might think.
Tree step - As the name implies, Shyrillia literally steps into a tree and is instantly transported to another tree that is still on the same continent. The only limitation to this ability is the proviso that the dryad must have already viewed the area she is tree-stepping into in some way, shape or form (i.e. scrying, seeing it on tv, etc).
Vines - Shyrillia can 'tap' a tree that is at least 50 years and force long, fibrous vines to spring forth from the trunk and branches. These vines can then move however she fits, changing shape and direction with a single thought. Keeping the vines in existance takes a fair amount of concentration, though.
