The Handler
Name: Marcus Nailo (changed his first name to fit in)
Nickname: Nature Boy or Tree Hugger or Mark
Classification: Elf
Gender: Male
Age & Birthday: 174ish, February 9
Appearance: Standing at about 6 foot even and weighing near 176 pounds. He can be described as “fit” his frame is tall and thin. His face is statuesque and a bit on the gaunt side, his skin is like that of an average elf smooth and tan. He has dark chestnut hair that spans out over his head and makes it look almost like his skull has a tuft on it, his hair if it would lay down would probably go past his chin, however his head is full of cowlicks so it just stands up and spans outward. He has a strange looking scar under his left eye. It’s almost like a lightning bolt with only one arc. His ears like most elves ears are quite large and end in a strange curved point. His eyes are a somewhat sad shade of hazel and his brow is well defined. His face if he’s not in the company of others can look sad and hopeless and is also said to look “forlorn”. Though common elven myth may lead some to think all elves are effeminate looking regardless of gender, his well-defined jaw and masculine misdemeanor put this theory to bed.
Attire: When on duty Marcus always wears a green trench coat lined with a bit of fake white fur, under which he wears an olive green vest and still under that he wears a black tank top. He’s also dressed with black baggy jeans and black combat boots, he wears a belt with many bags containing herbs and other random things in them. On his wrists are vambraces made of leather and studded at the borders, all of these items are of course embroidered with elven markings and symbols either in gold or black, whichever shows up best on the article of clothing. When off duty Marcus usually wears his green pajama pants or gray sweat pants and black sneakers, but removes his jacket and vest. He usually wears a black scarf around his neck regardless of the temperature because he thinks it looks cool. He’ll also tend to put on some black wristbands and maybe a black baseball cap if he’s feeling up to it. To carry his weapons he wears a black sheath with red runes inscribed into it on his left side near his waist.
The Creation
Name: Doc (due to his healing abilities)
Power List: Enhanced reflexes, Animal communication and healing Abilities
Detailed Power: Marcus reflexes come from a potent combination of intense training and a historic bloodline famed for their prowess in battle under great generals. Though it’s not superhuman by any means he is able to hold his own and dodge a good sum of melee attacks thrown at him. As for his communication with animals, he’s able to speak the universal language of wildlife, humans knowledgeable of the fantastic (such as D&D fans) would refer to this language as “Sylvan”. Of course when he speaks with them there’s no guarantee’s animals aren’t much different than people but his natural charisma and polite manner in speaking with them tends to help. The healing abilities that he posses come from an unknown source within him, as well as the knowledge of the incantation necessary for it to work, but he speculates that somewhere along the line one of his ancestors was blessed by a dryad and gifted with the ability to heal, this ability however has a draw back, it can leave him physically drained if used to often or used beyond Marcus’ comfort zone due to the great amount of energy it takes to heal a wound.
The Potential
Alignment/Occupation: Member of the BPRD
Weapons: two ornate elven swords, and a snub nose revolver for good measure.
Personality: A self proclaimed “Master of Hospitality” Marcus displays himself as a quirky and lighthearted person, he tries to get along with as many people as he can, despite the fact that not many people would have him around for more than five minutes. because of his overly optimistic views he tends to get on the bad sides of most short tempered or serious folk. Most of the time he tries to reach out to people he feels are like him, anyone separated from the world trying to live a lie (or at least that’s how he views it). Though his optimism will shine through most of the time, he has a tendency to be overly dramatic about his plight.
He’s only recently joined the human world, so he’s usually fascinated by new technology and can’t keep his hands off of a shiny new doo-dad (even if it doesn’t belong to him). Added to this obsession with shiny things, he’s also developed a fondness towards video games and some games that people might find boring, like shuffle board. He tends to not follow the rules others make for him deeming most of them as “thrifty or unnecessary”. He tries a little hard to impress others at times, which usually results in people thinking of him as annoying. Overall, he can be described as “Whimsical and high spirited.”
Skills: Most of the things he learned centered themselves around battle and war, like advanced battle techniques and how to avoid death, but he’s found time in his many years to pass the time. He’s become very good at playing video games and working with less advanced machinery, he can speak elven and a few of the human languages and is even an accomplished ukulele player.
Strengths: Marcus is a very accomplished close combat warrior, offering up a healthy amount of speed and coordination, his animal communication skills also present him as an excellent scout and information gatherer. As for his applicable “off duty” skills, he’s naturally calm and not prone to panic or breakdown, making him a good peace keeper and a competent morale heightener.
Weaknesses: What Marcus can offer with speed in combat, he lacks in physical strength and a small amount of overconfidence in his abilities. Aside from that, he’s not able to shoot and has a large lack of common sense in most situations making him prone to falling into traps. Some can also mistake his confident and carefree demeanor for arrogance or complete disregard for the feelings of others.
The Story
History: Marcus was born to a small clan of elves hidden deep within the black forests of Germany, and for the first 50 years of his life, he spent time with the elf children and all the other manner of fey creatures that lived there. He lived a seemingly charmed life, spending time sparring with friends and talking to animals about the world that they’ve seen outside the forest he resided in. At around age 75 he had finished his combat training and had fully honed his animal communication skills, and for the next ten years, he lived on his own to find a way to integrate them into a suitable set of field skills. After this period he came back to his home to find that Humans had been encroaching on his clans territory and talk of a human war that could envelop their forest arose, upon hearing this, he and his clan fled to Canada, hearing about it’s no war record and waited out World Wars 1 and 2. Other areas were proposed but the elders foresaw a lack of safety in the nearby lands.
After this period he prepared for a while to enter human society, He had grown weary of tradition and seclusion, he was tired of getting his only information from animals and ancient rumors, so he decided to have some experiences of his own. The elders told him not to leave but he never really agreed with their position on staying out of sight, he figured that if he could hide himself well enough then he could live there and encourage others of his kind to do the same. So when he felt that he had gathered enough information and learned the human language well enough he left his clan and went to North America to try and live in human society. Though he had obtained a wealth of information from animals and rumors he had come into a period far more advanced than what he had heard. Having developed a liking for strange layered clothing and Techno music, he was prepared for the 80’s human society but he came in around the year 2001. He tried desperately to catch up with all this new technology that had been developed and over the years he had picked up how to fit in in society, how to use (most) technological devices like computers and how to dress in a slightly less eye catching manner.
He had befriended many humans in his short time in the human world, but he was longing to be able to have both human and supernatural friendships, so he decided that that would be his goal from that point on, using that magical thing referred to as the internet he searched for a place for people like him to come together and talk to one another, but for a while all he found were groups of humans pretending to be elves and other creatures, some went so far to even resemble orcs, needless to say it was a huge disappointment to him.
Eventually, he stumbled on a conspiracy article on the internet relating to a secret government organization called the BPRD that was supposed to cover up and deal with the existence of paranormal and supernatural creatures, rumor had it that it was based somewhere New Jersey, so he said goodbye to his friends and departed, when he arrived in New Jersey he paraded around as much as he could, speaking to animals and healing the sick and wounded, presenting himself as a demi-god of nature. It wasn’t long before the BPRD caught up with him and sought him out. He was delighted to find the BPRD agent at his door, the man asked him to come with him so that they could calm all the trouble that he was causing and put his skills to better use, he gladly accepted and went with them to their HQ. He’s been there for a month or two now and is currently seeking out friendships and thirsts to prove himself in the field.
