The Handler
Name: Lamia
Nickname: The Lamia, The Witch, Marble Wench
Classification: Human//Witch
Gender: Female
Age & Birthday: 909, December 13th, 1100
Appearance: Lamia appears to be in her early twenties. She is about 5 foot 9 inches, and weighs about 119 lbs. She is lithe, slender yet curvaceous, with a taut stomach and long mesmerizing, legs. She is a temptress, a seductress, who is blessed with an hour-glass shaped figure and smooth, olive skin. She has long raven, dark hair that she prefers to keep loose and disheveled around her defined face - reminiscent of Medusa with her wild crown of serpent, tresses.
Lamia has high cheekbones, a straight nose, and bewitchingly, blue eyes - framed with a dark, curtain of lashes, and delectable, faded-rose lips. When encountered, she appears to be a foreign/misplaced, beautiful, woman with a hint of mystery and danger due to her dark characteristics. She just stands out, or seem rather out of place (partly because she rarely changes her attire).
As The Lamia, she appears to be a poised, statue made of unbreakable marble.
Attire: She is usually barefoot, or in sandals, and dons a sleek, fan sleeved, short gown that could practically pass for a nightie, or short, silk robe. She can use magic to alter her attire: changing the colour or length, but not the silky texture.
The Creation
Name: Lamia
Power List: Magic, Telekinesis, Telepathy
Detailed Power: Telepathy - using her mind, Lamia's telepathy is limited to communicating only with animals. However, she has an affinity to snakes, making them easier for her to command.
Telekinesis - Exerting will power, and with concentration Lamia is able to move objects or people with a gesture of her hands or by merely looking at them. However, she can not move what she can not see. Strenuous feats and continuous use of this power can take a toll on her (causing impaired sight, or dizziness/fainting), and the power itself is weakened in its efficiency, and strength. If she is using telekinesis, she can not use telepathy, or work spells.
Magic - Born with the gifts of a talented witch, and under the guide of a practitioner Lamia was able to harness her magic in these various ways (by tapping into energy or using tools or ingredients): Summon spirits (to spy, distract, or intimidate), Communicate with the dead (talk to Ghosts or briefly bringing having corpses respond to her), Effect weather, Scry, Perform rituals and cast spells. A few quick spells she's able to cast on the spot are binding spells, protection spells, transfiguration/morphing spells, glamour spells. Other complex spells for darker magic use takes more energy, more preparation, tools and sometimes rare ingredients, and completely depletes her energy resource. When she delves into this darker aspect of magic and spell casting, Lamia faces the danger of maiming or destroying herself, depending on the spell, or reverting back to her marble state at once.
Note:The one who reads the enchantment and carries out the ritual to free her from her marble state, possesses her. She can not use magic against this person. The one who has claimed her can also revert her back to her marble state, or smash her - killing her.
The Potential
Alignment/Occupation: Neutral
Weapons: None
Personality: Would it be fair, to describe Lamia as being like no other. Well, the audacity and arrogance is my pleasure, there's no other woman in the world like her. Dubbed 'The Witch', 'Marble Wench' - she is a cold, unforgiving, ruthless, critical and shameless woman.
Lamia is an unpredictable force, being completely sound in mind and manner, then in a fraction of a moment she can be deranged, hysterical or chaotic. A very nerve wracking experience for one who has only ever witnessed her calm, collected, composure. Her elegance, and sophistication sometimes run on a thin, feeble line.
She can however be open, savvy, warm, and relatable when she likes, (or more or less when it serves to do so when in a delicate situation) but condescendingly so. And it won't take long for her to strike with her "serpents tongue" or attempt to sway things in her favour. There is no comfortability in her presence, and she often shows disregard for other races. However, she respects power, despite the envy that would follow.
Lamia cares only for what is in her best interest. Her goals: power, freedom, pleasure, and immortality. She rarely trusts anyone and often doesn't allow herself to become attached to people.
Skills: Lamia can speak in Greek, Latin, and French. She can also extract venom from snakes - using it to create poisonous concoctions, such as wines, oils, and potions.
Strengths: Lamia is cunning, smart, and deceptive, all strengths she puts to diabolical use. However, her main strength would be her adept knowledge and capability in using magic.
Weaknesses: Although, cunning and smart, Lamia can get very impatient, or anxious, which can very well overshadow her strengths, as well as create blunders for herself - sometimes totally ruining whatever she's been working on, or towards. Her capabilities are dulled immensely against the one who possesses her. Excess use of magic exhausts Lamia, and powerful spellwork can deplete her energy.
The Story
History:
There are various stories that circulate about The Lamia - a mysterious, coveted, statue of a beautiful woman who was rumored to have once been a powerful, and notoriously devious witch...
Lamia of Atalante, despite popular belief, myth and stories, was not moulded in the earth by a sorcerer who then breathed life into her. She was actually the bastard child of a local seer by the name of Dahlia, and a Greek noble who did not acknowledge his daughter's existence.
From her young years Lamia exhibited powers that made Dahlia very nervous. She seeked out the help of Lamia's father, who but turned his back on them. His wife, however, felt pity after overhearing about her husbands infidelity. The woman visited Dahlia under the cover of night with news of an old woman in Calindoea, who could help cultivate or strip Lamia of her powers.
That same night, Dahlia had a horrific dream. She saw Lamia, just six years old, in the courtyard of her father's home, watching from the outside as all those inside lay dead - ensnared by poisonous snakes. When Dahlia woke up she found her daughter sitting on the edge of the mattress, cradling a snake.
Dahlia fled, bound to see the old woman who could hopefully take Lamia's powers away. The Crone insisted that Dahlia return home, and wait three days. Unfortunately, Dahlia was captured - blamed for the deaths of the nobleman and family, and she was stoned and burnt for her daughters actions. It was what The Crone had expected, leaving her to raise Lamia.
Under the Crone's tutelage, Lamia learned how to use her magic. Ever ambitious, ever dark, Lamia grew to be a formidable and well known and sought after witch, next to the Crone.
Their relationship was based on respect between student and teacher, but that changed when Lamia discovered old tablets and scrolls. One such tablet spoke of sacrificing many to prolong life and youth. It intrigued Lamia, all these spells the Crone had no intention of sharing. Lamia absorbed them, pouring over them all. Of course she killed The Crone eventually, and began her journey to accomplishing eternal youth.
She traveled Greece, with her magic she procured money and status throughout time, as well as a body toll. She killed relentlessly, secretly, and youth was her, life was hers! Years passed by, and her travels, her escapades continued. She saw events unfold, things discovered, and built.
In the West Indies, in the 17th century, Lamia crossed a coven of witches - she'd killed one of them, no longer chasing the desire to be ageless and beautiful forever (since she'd acquired it through her slaughters), but keen on siphoning power from other witches, in order to summon a great evil. She fought against the Coven on a great, cliff. They cursed her into a statue, only ever able to return by a powerful person, but shackled to his/her will. They shoved her off the cliff, into the ocean.
Here and there she was found, kept as a prized marble piece in wealthy homes, but often being lost again in time, tragedy, and darkness. No-one has laid eyes on The Lamia for sometime now.
