The very small below five foot girl standing in the middle of the training room stood out like a sore thumb. She looked like a third grader, trying too hard to learn something that at the moment, she couldn't. Her body was kept perfectly still for a few moments, then finally she opened her eyes and moved at last. The puddle of water at her feet began to raise up into the air, and as the female moved her hand back and forth, it curved and bounced like a snake. Then, she lost focus and the puddle dropped to the floor. Releasing a very strange noise in pure frustration, she lost control of her footing as well and slipped on the water at her feet. Falling straight on her face, she stayed down on the cushion like training floor beneath her. After a few moments, she rolled over and let out sigh.
" Give up Theeshon " She said to herself, lisp slipping out of her words. " You're never going to get it "
When she finally decided to get up, she straightened the cuff on her pants and stood straight. Placing her hands on her waist, she huffed and puffed her chest out a tad bit.
She was going to try it again anyway. So, she raised her hand up wards once again, and raised the water up from the ground. Swiftly swaying her hand back and forth, the water moved in the same motion. But, just as she had gotten it just right, a harsh buzzer went off for a split second. Losing focus, she let the water drop down to her feet, and with a slight surprised jump she slipped and fell face flat in the floor .... again.
" Ughhhh ! ! ! " She called out, shoving her hands on top of her. This time, she didn't rise back up, but only sat their for moments on end.

Loud boisterous applause filled the room at Theeson's final attempt at water manipulation.
The clapping was emanating from the prisoner, Anton Arkins. He had been doing...better...lately, and had earned more freedom around the complex. He was sitting on a weight bench a few scant feet away, and had become somewhat charmed watching the young girl do her best to move water with magic - or however it was she was doing it.
"Get up there eh? Let's see that again," He said, moving over to her under the watchful eyes of a few scattered suits. He offered her his hand, smirking down at her.

Theeson raised an eyebrow at the sudden applause that filled the room. Raising her head slightly to look above her, she saw a man standing over her, holding out his hand with a smirk on his face. Ah, here was the culprit! Taking his hand, she pulled herself back up onto her feat, and swept the remaining liquid off of herself with the use of her power.
" Watch it bub, " She said, clearly for once " Or all give you one harsh case of the Sniffles " Theeson finished, her lisp ringing from her last word to make her sound oh so serious.

Anton laughed slightly at the girl, taking her no more seriously than a threatening bunny rabbit. He walked around her in a slow circle, appraising her carefully.
"What is it with this place and everyone's open hostility?" He joked as he walked, continued his quiet appraisal.
She was young, late teens, early twenties. Thin and tiny, Arkins towered over her by at least a good foot, but that could mean little down here. She could be as strong as a bear for all Anton knew. Was she a magician? Maybe, but there was no flash, the water mundane, no light and energy from a spell. A little mystery she was, cute too.
"Another pretty girl. It seems the B.P.R.D. takes to being a professional modeling agency first, and supernatural police-force second eh?" Arkins said, flashing the girl a wide smile.
Every person not wearing a suit had something to hide down here. Some power, or strength. For the most part, Arkins had noticed, they weren't too nice about this fact. He was the same, he noted, when he wasn't restrained. You have a power that others don't, it makes you feel better than them - and it made for an ego or two down in the underground fortress of the B.P.R.D. Normally Arkins would lash out, verbal barbs and quick witticisms...but few had shown powers that bordered on magical. So far he had seen a lot of strength, physical abnormalites and biological benefits.
And he missed magic so...
" Let's see your little water trick again eh? How're you doing it?" He asked, clearly interested.

Theeson took one look in the man's eyes, and right away a word for the man popped into her mind.
Crazy.
Having to look directly upwards to see him, she raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms in a snooty way. Tilting her hips slightly, she said " Water trick? FYI, Its more than just that "
But, he had this small look in his eye that showed he really actually wanted to see how she did it, so with a raise of her hand, the water began to float.
Gesturing for the water to form into the shape of an orb in her hands, she stood perfectly still with her eyes focussed intently on the liquid in her palm. " Im a Haltija, its what I do " She added before letting the water slide into the canister at her side.

Arkins laughed softly. Everyone certainly was defensive down in the dark of B.P.R.D. Apart from a few, Anton supposed.
"No need to get so defensive, girly. No insult was meant eh? It's a neat trick with the water, magic or otherwise," he said calmly.

Anton watched with hungry fascination. Watching her manipulate the water made him ache for his own magic. His hands twitched slightly as the water formed up into an orb, and he smiled broadly.
"Well done..well done. Much better than the last time, eh?" Arkins said as he clapped softly for her.
"And now girly," he continued casually, "I think you have me mistaken for one of the bookish types floating about this place. But as it is, I have absolutely no damn idea what a Haltija is. But you know that form you were using as you moved...looked a damn sight like a martial art some or some such."

" Yeah....What I've figured out over time is that I can use my water manipulation skills in the form of martial arts for attack reasons. I tried it once before, and it worked damn well....But, now I just can't seem to get it down " Theeson explained with her arms crossed, looking up at the fascinated man above her. Wow, he was the first person in a long time that,
1. Looked at her face, not her butt
2. Didn't comment on her accent, or say the word ' What? '
and
3. Actually seemed interested in her ' gift '
" Oh, and Im a Sweedish mythical being, do some research, its quite interesting " She said as she looked over her nails, polishing them on her shirt before examining them once again.
' This guy looks like he might be of some use ' Theeson thought to herself, ' Might wan to keep him around for a while Thees' '

"So...what....you rely on the martial art to...huh...interesting," Anton said tapping his chin thoughtfully. He was thinking of his own magic now, how it took a bit of physicality itself - but nothing on the scale this girl was talking about.
"So what's the martial art? Or is it something your kind made up?" He asked, his brow raised in earnest speculation.

Well wasn't she the cocky little bint. She certainly didn't fear Anton, which was fine, he was far from the scariest thing down in the facility, but she wasn't entirely respectful either.
"You'll have to excuse me girly, but I don't care enough to read a damn book about whatever magical race you hail from. Why don't you give me a quick rendition of whatever you are instead," Anton said with a bright smile.

Theeson smiled slightly at the man. He had spark, and something screamed DIFFERENT in his presence. " Fine then, don't educate yourself "She said with a shrug, hands closely pulled to her sides.
Changing the subject, she looked down at her hands and examined her palms and fingertips.
" To be honest with you, Im not even completely sure what it is " Theeson began, " But, from what I've read and researched, Tai-Chi would suit me best. So, Im trying...I stress the word, Trying. to try it out a bit " She finished, dropping her hands once more and looking back up at the man

"Well by all means inform me of your magical, human looking race, of water controlling peoples. I just can't be bothered to read a book about one of them if I have a live one sitting in front of me," Arkins said with an exaggerated shrug.

"Sounds complicated," Arkins said, becoming slightly bored by the girl's marked drop in reaction. She was becoming quieter and less sassy by the minute.
"Maybe you should explain it more. Not sure if I'm fully grasping it. Also, side note, why are you only now just trying it? Shouldn't your race of magical whatever creatures have taught you how to go about it? Or is the power entirely unrelated?" Arkins continued, returning to sit on the nearby weight bench.

Theeson rolled her eyes at the thought of her old Vaki teaching her something as cool as Tai-Chi. She made a strange noise before saying, " Yeah right, us Finnish ' peeps ' " She started, quoting with her fingers, " Aren't cool enough to learn that kind of stuff. Well, at least I know I never learned it. All my Vaki believed in was that women should do three things Cook, Clean, Protect the children, and Reproduce.....Oh wait thats four isn't it ".
Continuing to stand where she was, her hips tilted once again as her sass returned. With a slight laugh, she looked up to the ceiling and said " Im the only fun one in my family, its depressing "
Then at last she decided it best to answer his question. " Technically, us Haltijas are elf like creatures that are meant to protect certain people. There are all sorts of us, all of which control different elements. Im the kind of Haltija that controls water, and thats pretty much my species in a nutshell "
