Date: August 7th Time: 10:30 PM - After the incident
Anton sighed as he lay down on the cool hard stone floor. He had just finished his final rep of sit ups, and he was tired and bored.
His room, cell, whatever, was fine; if not modest and uninteresting A single cot, a metal dresser with simple black clothes, and a door leading to a tiny cramped bathroom in the back, and that was all. Arkins was shirtless, his skin pockmarked with jagged scars, and shiny from sweat, due to his workout. His nose was covered by white bandages, the skin around his eyes bruised from his broken nose. Arkins didn't mind though, his nose had been broken plenty of times before, what was once more?
He fiddled with an ipod next to him, looking through the songs as he quietly caught his breath. He had nicked the music player from some idiot suit that wasn't bothering to pay attention as he helped shove Anton in the cell. No one had been brave enough to go get it back.
"Ashlee Simpson? Christ you Americans have shit taste," he called out to the guards outside the door, peering at the glowing ipod screen.

Kasim hadn't witnessed the "Incident" as the suits were calling it earlier that day. He had been in the training room, showing the rounds to one of the newbies when it happened. And it appeared, as his good fortune would have it, that because he missed the mischief and mayhem, he would now have to take a big part in the existence of the one who started it all. It was common for certain members of the BPRD who could be considered dangers to themselves, or were just a security risk, to have liaisons, as seen with Hellboy. Kasim received orders shortly after the incident that he was assigned as liaison to the man who had started it all: Anton Arkins.
It was later in the night than usual, but the BPRD knew no bed time. Indeed, Kasim was sipping biter black coffee out of a stainless steel thermos as he walked down the hallways, through the security lock, and finally arrived at the cell. He was in a freshly pressed suit, but his five o'clock shadow showed evidence that he hadn't shaved since the morning. Maybe he'd let his goatee grow out again... "Evening, Mitch." He said to one of the guards outside the door.
"You're Mr. Lucky, huh? I figured they wouldn't wanna risk a marksman like you on a guy like this." Mitch said.
"Maybe that's why. They know if he gets far away, I can always have a shot...If I'm not dead." Such cheerful banter among suits was common.
Mitch opened the steel combo lock to the cell so that the barred door was exposed. Kasim walked up to it just in time to hear the occupant's voice.
>>"Ashlee Simpson? Christ you Americans have shit taste."<<
Kasim almost smiled as he looked through the bars and saw the man fiddling with the iPod. Kasim kept a calm demeanor, after all, this was his job, but he took comfort in knowing that his pistols were within reach, should he need them. "To each their own, Mr. Arkins." He kept his arms at his side, but stayed out of reach of Anton, should he try to grab Kasim through the bars. "If you'd like, I could go find music more to your liking from the Bureau's database. We have mostly classical music and periodical music from the 1940's to today, but I think we have a good enough selection to your liking.
"My name is Kasim Chionesu. I've been assigned as your liaison." Kasim paused to take a breath. "I don't expect us to be friend, Mr. Arkins, but I'll treat you with respect and get you whatever you need, within reason and within the understanding the Bureau has of your conditions of being here."

At first Arkins didn't bother to pay attention to the black man that was standing just outside his cell. It wasn't until the man was a full halfway through his diatribe that Anton bothered to peer over at him, popping the ear buds from his head.
>>"My name is Kasim Chionesu. I've been assigned as your liaison." Kasim paused to take a breath. "I don't expect us to be friends, Mr. Arkins, but I'll treat you with respect and get you whatever you need, within reason and within the understanding the Bureau has of your conditions of being here."
Arkins snorted in laughter. "That's a fine way to punish me eh? Give me a little gopher," Arkins said, still chuckling to himself. "You don't have to stay so far away you know. All the fight got taken out of me by that big red monkey thing you lot have running about here. The one with the big stone fist. "
Arkins sat up, putting his back against the cool cement wall. "So what all can I request eh? I assume "letting me go" is out of the question eh?"

Gopher. Kasim had been called worse and less flattering things. But then again, he had actually heard some of the suits referred to as 'D.O.A.'s' -- Dead on Arrivals. He didn't mind the rodent name, though he supposed it was, in essence, what he was. That, and possibly a punching bag for the man, if he became too aggressive. Kasim kept his posture straight and joined his hands at the wrist in front of him.
"As you may understand, Mr. Arkins, special precautions must be taken with a man of your ability, as was demonstrated earlier today. For the time being I am quite comfortable standing here." It wasn't out of fear that he stood back. It was more like protocol and not giving the man a hostage to bargain with.
>>"So what all can I request eh? I assume "letting me go" is out of the question eh?"<<
"I said within reason, and I'm afraid that request is out of it." Kasim replied. "I can get you food, drink, books. Things of a material value, but as I said, within reason. Nothing outrageous, though I suppose something challenging wouldn't be too bad."

Arkins scratched his stubbly chin for a moment, momentarily sidetracked in thought.
"So I could use a punching bag I think. Unless there's a training room...well I guess there would be a training room," Arkins muttered more to himself than anything.
"You know, I had my clear, violent reservations about all of this. But if I get to set up a cushy pad and don't have to pull jobs to scrape cash together...then it might be worth my while to participate. For now. Until I get bored," he said with a smile to Kasim, "Plus, a few pretty birds flutter about in here. Better looking than the squads of dirty cusses runnin' about shooting things I had to deal with."
Arkins stood, stretching his arms above his head with a mild yawn.
"I could go for some food. Doesn't matter what kind. And I dunno, a TV or somethin' maybe. And better music for sure. Whoever's ipod this is has crap taste. "

"There is a training room. I...will have to check if you have clearance to go there after what happened today. But until you do, I'll get you one." Kasim pulled out a small notebook from the inside of his jacket and wrote, "Punching Bag" on a page. There were plenty of spares in the training storage on account of some agents getting overzealous and destroying them.
>>"You know, I had my clear, violent reservations about all of this. But if I get to set up a cushy pad and don't have to pull jobs to scrape cash together...then it might be worth my while to participate. For now. Until I get bored. Plus, a few pretty birds flutter about in here. Better looking than the squads of dirty cusses runnin' about shooting things I had to deal with."<<
Kasim doubted that a man of Anton's abilities would get bored in this place -- every week there was some new unknown to battle with, and apparently sometimes it got pretty sticky at the Bureau. "A word of advice, Mr. Arkins." He began after reference to the 'pretty birds.' "I would keep my hands to myself...unless you want to lose them. Just a bit of friendly advice. Plus, respecting ladies is also...a good thing."
>>"I could go for some food. Doesn't matter what kind. And I dunno, a TV or somethin' maybe. And better music for sure. Whoever's ipod this is has crap taste. " <
Kasim wrote the last few requests down. "Alright. I'll be a few minutes, Mr. Arkins." Kasim placed the notebook back in his jacket and exited the doorway of the cell.
"I see you're not bleeding or physically wounded. Must have gone well." Mitch said.
Kasim smiled. "Yes. Just going on a run for him."
Kasim returned fifteen minutes later with another suit. Kasim was pushing a cart with a few selections for Anton's dinner that night: Chili and chips leftover from what was taken to Hellboy for dinner, a chicken quesadilla, and just in case the man was a vegetarian, a garden salad with a few bottles of dressing. The other man was wheeling a TV with two metal boxes on top. After making sure the doorway was covered with Mitch and the other guard, Kasim gave the okay for the door to be opened, and he wheeled in the cart. "You have a few selections here, Mr. Arkins. Hope you like them." Kasim placed the cart against the far wall before returning and accepting the TV from the other suit, who also went to cover the door. Kasim placed the TV so that it could be watched from the bed before exiting the cell and closing the door. "With the TV you just have to plug it and the box in. The box is almost like WiFi, except for TV, so you have all the channels. And the second box there is a laptop with our music library. USB cord is plugged in."

Anton was by and large dismissive to Kasim as he spoke, only acting again once Kasim left. Bored, and antsy, he began punching the wall slowly and forcefully, an exercise he had learned to strengthen both his skin and bones. Arkins muttered to himself, mentally taking list of other things he could ask for upon Kasim's return.
Fifteen minutes of punching had resulted in little, other than a scant bit of blood flecking the wall from Arkins' newly bloodied fists.
The food instantly caught Anton's eye, and he delved right into it before Kasim could get a word in edgewise. He scarfed down the quesadilla and most of the salad before finally looking over to the suit, who was back on the other side of the cell door.
"Sorry about that. Haven't eaten in a few days. Haven't really had a proper meal either, you live like I do, you don't get the time to cook eh?" Arkins put his back to the wall, and slid down to a sitting position on the floor.
"Bet this isn't what you signed up for eh?" he asked with a laugh, "Taking care of a criminal." Anton laughed again.
"Bet you signed on to fight the good fight. See the interestin' sights. See the neat little beasties...like that big red thing and the bird boy you lot are carting around. And then instead, you get just a regular joe murderer to chat up. Bet that's depressin'."

When Evadne had heard that there was a new 'agent' she hadn't given it a second thought - this is until she'd also found out what he'd ended up doing to a few of the suits. It didn't take long for things like that to make it's way through the ranks of the Bureau - and in a way Evadne was a bit pleased that the newbie had put up a fight. It spiced things up a bit.
Rising to her feet, she ran a hand over her typical black blouse - smoothing the wrinkles from the material. She leaned over her desk and quickly placed all the notes she'd written about the Yeti she'd been investigating back into it's folder. Tucking it under her arm and quickly left her room. She made her way through the hallways, barely acknologing those around her. Reaching the security lock, she arches a brow as she passed through. Well, this was getting more and more interesting. This high of security for one person?
Arriving at the cell, she smiled slightly at Mitch before slipping in so she was standing beside Kasim. She didn't say anything at first, as her attention was turned to the man in the cell. He didn't look all that impressive. Nothing that a Suit should have had problems escorting.
"Oh, aren't you the lucky one Kasim," She finally said softly, her gaze still glued onto the celled man. "Does he do any tricks?"

Kasim watched Anton devour his food absentmindedly, and was rather pleased that his selection suited the man's palate.
>>"Sorry about that. Haven't eaten in a few days. Haven't really had a proper meal either, you live like I do, you don't get the time to cook eh?"<<
Cook? Did that mean he'd perhaps want cooking instruments -- or at least a warming plate? Kasim scratched his chin thoughtfully. No, no - Kasim didn't really think Anton would really want to cook. "Completely understandable. You might want to take care that you don't eat too fast -- could cause nausea and maybe vomiting." He said it as a half-hearted joke. Oh, Kasim could imagine calling the custodial staff down here to clean that up -- Or beter yet, Kasim would probably do it himself in all his glorified babysitter-ness.
>>"Bet this isn't what you signed up for eh?" he asked with a laugh, "Taking care of a criminal." ..."Bet you signed on to fight the good fight. See the interestin' sights. See the neat little beasties...like that big red thing and the bird boy you lot are carting around. And then instead, you get just a regular joe murderer to chat up. Bet that's depressin'."<<
"I just do what I'm told." Kasim shrugged. "I'm an FBI agent assigned to the bureau and assigned to you. A little redundant, isn't it?" He shrugged again. "Since you're an agent anyway, it's not like I'll be missing out on the action around here. I think you'll find that the bureau and it's occupants are never 'regular joe's.'"
At that moment, a beautiful golden-haired woman slipped in beside Kasim. Kasim tensed for a moment before recognizing her as the bureau's resident vampire, Evadne. Kasim had learned quickly not to be too paranoid of most of the agents that wondered freely, but the fact that there was a real vampire in residence was enough to make him perhaps wish he had a crucifix around his neck...just in case.
>>"Oh, aren't you the lucky one Kasim,"... "Does he do any tricks?"<<
Kasim cleared his throat slightly in self-consciousness before answering. He didn't want to offend his charge or maybe do the same to Evadne. "You know how it is with bureau agents: everyone has their own unique ah...talents."
"Mr. Arkins, this is Evadne, one of your fellow agents. Evadne, this is Anton Arkins, the cause of the incident earlier today."

"Since you're an agent anyway, it's not like I'll be missing out on the action around here. I think you'll find that the bureau and it's occupants are never 'regular joe's.'"
Arkins shrugged, fiddling with the bracelets. "I'm as bout as regular as can be down here. You probably have my file. Got that little bit in there about how I can't use magic anymore eh? On account of these pretty little things." He said, shaking his wrists up above his head.
He perked up slightly as the girl came in, his brow cocking with mild interest as she approached. He took no account of himself, uncarring that he was bandaged, sweaty and shirtless. She arrived quietly, not speaking, and stared intently at Anton...judging him.
A bad start.

"Tricks? Talents? Eh, yeah, I know plenty enough to get by. Why don't you come in here and I can show you one or two?" He said with a half-smile. "Though I have the suspicion that you'll have seen most of it...although I guess you could be a young one. I'm no expert," Arkins continued with a grunt as he stood up.
"I'll never understand what possess your type to wear all the black. Is it to accentuate the porcelain pale skin? I admit, you can pull it off... got the dainty blond thing pullin' for you. The biter I knew couldn't. Looked like a right moron," Arkins said, still smiling as he approached the bars.

>>"Mr. Arkins, this is Evadne, one of your fellow agents. Evadne, this is Anton Arkins, the cause of the incident earlier today."<<
Evadne had to suppress the urge to snort at Kasim's words. She might be an agent, but this.. Man? She would hardly call herself one of his fellow agents. maybe she was being arrogant though she hardly cared to be completely honest.
>>"Tricks? Talents? Eh, yeah, I know plenty enough to get by. Why don't you come in here and I can show you one or two?" He said with a half-smile.<<
Her brow arched at the arrogance of Anton. She'd known a lot of people in her lifetime, and had never been able to stand a cocky behavior coming from anyone other than herself. She would have liked nothing more at that point in time to use Anton for her midnight snack, but she knew she might get in a bit of trouble if she did so. "Oh, I'm sure you could" She finally answered, a deceivingly sweet smile touching her lips.
>>"Though I have the suspicion that you'll have seen most of it...although I guess you could be a young one. I'm no expert," Arkins continued with a grunt as he stood up.

"My type?" Evande repeated, her eyes narrowing. "Pray tell, what exactly do you know about 'my type'?" She had never been very fond of people typecasting her - sure she was a vampire, but that didn't mean she went around biting people and sucking their blood out all the time.... Just occasionally.
"Oh, I'm quite sure you pull the look of moron off daily, so don't worry so much about it, " Evadne quipped growing bored of Anton speaking. She looked over at Kasim with a look that bordered on pity. She couldn't imagine being around the new addition to the team as much as Kasim was going to need to. "Does he ever shut up?"

Anton cocked his head as the blond little vampire went on the defensive and then the attack. He knew how this all worked. Whenever he slid his way into a new gang it was always like this. The old members strutted about, showing their feathers, making sure he knew his place. But Anton could care less about her posturing and dismissive nature; it was apparent she had come down to see him for a reason, and being that Kasim was the one in charge, it was anything but work related.
He shook his head and chuckled, smiling broadly at the vampire. "Tryin' a mite bit too hard their blondy," he said with a laugh, "No need to get so upset eh? You biters are as much apart from each other as everyone else."
He gave an animated shrug as he sat down on the corner of his bed. "Now...you want me to talk, you wonder when I'll shut up. Which'll it be? Cause I can hardly do both eh?" He said with a wide smile.

Kasim shifted anxiously from one foot to the other through these exchanges. Maybe it wasn't too good for Arkins to have visitors right now -- He certainly did not want another incident on his hands, and he also didn't feel much like having to intervene in an altercation between the vampiress and the magically muted man.
>>"Does he ever shut up?"<<
"Um, well--" Kasim began, but the question was answered by Anton rather than him. He thought emotions were running a bit on the testy side, so he hurriedly intervened.
"Now you two, let's remember not to get testy." Kasim said warningly. "Evadne, if called for, I will have to ask you to leave, and Mr. Arkins, I suppose you could be less provocative if you want...uh...visitors."

>>He shook his head and chuckled, smiling broadly at the vampire. "Tryin' a mite bit too hard their blondy," he said with a laugh, "No need to get so upset eh? You biters are as much apart from each other as everyone else."<<
Evadne's eyebrow shot up and she stared at Anton hearing the word 'biters' leaving his mouth. He had to be kidding. She shook her head slowly, and crossed her arms. "I'm not upset. Believe me, you'd know if I were getting anywhere near upset."
>>He gave an animated shrug as he sat down on the corner of his bed. "Now...you want me to talk, you wonder when I'll shut up. Which'll it be? Cause I can hardly do both eh?" He said with a wide smile. <<
Evadne's lips turned down into her trademark scowl and she shot him a glare. Did he really think he was funny? Obviously he did. She was tempted to point out that talking normally required one to make intelligent remarks, so in his case he was merely jabbering. But just as she was about to open her mouth, Kasim spoke up.
>>"Now you two, let's remember not to get testy." Kasim said warningly. "Evadne, if called for, I will have to ask you to leave, and Mr. Arkins, I suppose you could be less provocative if you want... uh... visitors." <<
Normally Evadne never felt sheepish about her behavior, but Kasim was right. He could ask her to leave. She nodded slowly, finally tearing her gaze away from Anton. "I apologize. I was merely curious about the person who had caused so much trouble...." She trailed off , and looked back at Anton and smirked at him. "No offense, but you don't look like you could hurt a fly, let alone a couple of agents."

>>"I'm not upset. Believe me, you'd know if I were getting anywhere near upset," said the blond girl, notably becoming agitated.<<
"Ah fair enough blondy. We have just met an' all. Guess it's about as unfair for me to assume things of you as it is for you to assume things of me," Arkins said, still grinning widely.
>>"Now you two, let's remember not to get testy." Kasim said warningly. "Evadne, if called for, I will have to ask you to leave, and Mr. Arkins, I suppose you could be less provocative if you want... uh... visitors." <<
Arkins laughed softly at Kasim's words, nodding along slowly. "Ah yes Agent Chionesu. But then, if you care to notice, I can be polite to those being polite to me. Made nice little conversation with yourself. But Agent Blondy over there comes in to show off her feathers, I'm not going to hold my tongue. Not like she can do much worse to me than my current predicament. Got no magic. Prisoner to some foreign agency. And trust me, a man only needs to get the shit beat out of him so many times before the novelty wears off."
>>The blond woman looked over at Anton and smirked at him. "No offense, but you don't look like you could hurt a fly, let alone a couple of agents."<<
Anton laughed loudly at this, still the posturing, still the attempted showings of dominance.
"Aye right? But here I sit, having done the very thing you doubt. But hey, looks can be conceiving eh? Look at yourself for example. I doubt this little agency would just take on any ol' little girl. And you look what, late teens early twenties? So I'm sittin' here guessing that the little girly frame belies something big and nasty," Anton said, his wide smile turning to something a bit more relaxed.
"Now we come to it eh? Was I right? You walk down in here, more confident than any girl I've seen that looks your age. You skin as pale as this biter I knew up in St. Petersburg, your dress sense just as black. I'm thinking you a...ah shit what's the word? I had this nice little speech goin' here and I forget the damn word...vampire! Vampire that's it. Yeah, that's what I think. Wouldn't have kept at it neither, if you hadn't stressed out about it like you did."
