She smiled shaking his hand "Nice to meet you Levi" she replied hiding her hands now noticing how much he was staring at them made her feel abit self conscious about her powers."Trust me, I know..I wish I didn't have..this...its more like a curse.." she replied frowning. In him she saw abit of herself shining through. Which was abit comforting.
"I try not to think about it...but your probably right..pretending its not there...doesn't change anything. If you need any tips on controlling it, just ask me " she added nodding her head abit smiling as she fixed her hair abit.
"Well welcome to the bureau" she finally said "Although if your lucky you won't get sick of it as much as I do..." she trailed off not wanting to get too much into her love/hate with the B.R.P.D

Kasim was just smiling one of his smiles when he and Levi entered the cafeteria and saw that Liz, recently returned to the bureau, had spilled chocolate milk on the floor and her hands were erupted in flames.
>>"Holy mother of Gertrude!"<<
Kasim was about to turn to Levi and quickly explain about Liz (It was the guy's first day, he didn't need to think that he was going to get fried like an egg) when a breeze blew through the underground cafeteria and the lights flickered. Kasim looked around, slightly startled, and his eyes came to Levi. He remembered reading something in the file about a certain degree of weather control, but they were underground. That was impressive, but also detailed how massive his powers were, and how temperamental. Kasim moved to ask him something but whas stopped when Liz instead made contact.
>>"Was that you?"<<
Kasim was ready to jump in between the two just in case the hormonal pregnant woman wanted to pick a fight, but the two seemed to interact with each other in a fairly comradely fashion. Kasim's smile stayed during the entire exchange, because it was good for Levi to meet other people with the same type of aptitude for the paranormal and supernatural.
"We were just about to get something to eat, Miss Sherman. If you join us, I'll get you another chocolate milk." He smiled kindly.

Liz felt her stomach weakly, every once and awhile she got pains but they passed. The doctors in Europe said it was nothing and she was worrying too much but, she did have a bad incident over there which she thought for sure the children were harmed.
>>"We were just about to get something to eat, Miss Sherman. If you join us, I'll get you another chocolate milk." <<
She snapped out of her train of thought, smiling to Kasim weakly. "I'd love to" she replied, not usually one for socializing or going out of her way to talk to others or become friends with them. But considering she felt a little out of place and a little bit lonely she didn't see the harm in it.

Levi felt glad that Liz was going to join them. As much as he avoided making new friends, he felt that knowing her and learning from her experiences with her own powers would be a very good thing. "Here... let me clean that up...." Levi offered, setting his suitcase down. Grabbing a handful of napkins from a nearby counter, Levi dropped to one knee, soaking up what he could of the spilled puddle of chocolate milk. It was awkward with the duffel bag over hs shoulder, but he managed to do a fairly decent job, tossing the soiled napkins away into a nearby trash receptacle.
Smiling again, feeling optimistic about joining the BRPD, Levi glanced from Liz to Kasim and back again. "Well, I don't know about you two, but I'm famished," he said, patting his stomach. "I could probably eat twice my weight in peanut butter and banana sandwiches!"
Chuckling, he began to look around at all the faces within the cafeteria. "Not to sound totally ignorant..." he said as they began to walk towards the line leading up to the serving counter. "But, my guess is you and I aren't the only two with unique little quirks?" He asked Liz, his eyes filled with innocent questions.

Liz frowned feeling bad "Oh no you don't have to clean up my mess..." but he was already crouched around the puddle of a mess cleaning it up for her. She sighed, he was very eager to help. Which was sweet but still she worried some bad eggs in the bureau would use that to there advantage.
>>"Well, I don't know about you two, but I'm famished,"<< She heard him say patting his stomach, reminding her of her own gurgling tummy below her she smiled over to him and then Kasim >> "I could probably eat twice my weight in peanut butter and banana sandwiches!"<< she grinned abit "God I haven't had those in ages, I'm dying for one" Liz walked over putting some on a tray for all of them (and of course her precious chocolate milk, unspilled this time). She felt abit more cheerful, not being by herself like she usually was. If it was possible for her to be cheerful.
Standing in line Levi turned to her >> "Not to sound totally ignorant..."<< he paused >>"But, my guess is you and I aren't the only two with unique little quirks?"<<. Liz let out a weak smile, automatically thinking of HB and Abe ..wait until he met them.
"Oh I think I have some friends you gotta meet" she grinned now "Everyone at the B.R.P.D has something alittle...quirky about them. You will figure that out pretty fast"

She had friends with abilities too? Levi couldn't help but smile, his eyes twinkling with excitement. Already he was feeling less and less of a solitary outcast, a danger to those around him. He then realized that the cafeteria worker was waiting for him, as ll as people behind him. "Gaah, jeez I'm sorry," he said, flushing with embarrassment as he took a few of the sandwiches himself along with an apple and a cup of coffee. "Don't mind me while I go off on a trip into my own little world..."
Shaking his head at the several chuckles from the people behind him, he offered a smile to Kasim, letting him get his food while he followed Liz to an empty table. Sitting down, he continued to be amazed at the amount of people, letting out a small sigh. Maybe this being home wasn't as intimidating as he had first thought. He wondered, although, when he would be expected to return t the field. He knew his powers may come in handy for some kind of mission sometime... but the very thought of it froze him down to the marrow of his bones.
Shaking his head slightly, Levi pushed it to the back of his mind. Why bother putting energy into those thoughts when he had no idea what the future held for him here. He decided, instead, to focus on his new acquaintances; his natural enjoyment of good company surpassing the dark thoughts in his mind.
Levi pushed his suitcase beneath the table and set the duffel bag down beneath his chair as he sat down. He then took a thickly loaded peanut butter and banana sandwich i hand and took a bite, closing his eyes as he savored the taste. It was like he was young again, in that one good year with his foster parents before his foster father showed his true nature. Those were good days, and he smile a little... missing the only real mother he ever knew.

she smiled at him watching him. He seemed very excited when she said that. He just wanted to belong was most likely the main reason for him being here. And who could blame him? , didn't they all want to belong?.
>>"Gaah, jeez I'm sorry," << She couldn't help but chuckle abit the people behind him tapping there feet and looking at there watch waiting for him. >> "Don't mind me while I go off on a trip into my own little world..."<<
Liz looked over at him walking to a table "Your own little world? trust me, the world at the B.P.R.D is interesting enough" she sat down quietly, sipping on her chocolate milk. She paused looking at Levi "Looks like there are dark thoughts swimming in that head of yours" she said , biting into a piece of her sandwich. She knew what that was like, being so absorbed in the pains of the past you forgot to live in the future instead. She sipped on her chocolate milk again.
She swallowed abit of peanut butter "I don't mean to be nosy but when did you have your first little incident with your uh..gift?" she asked curiously.

Levi was lifting the sandwich to his mouth for another big bite when Liz asked when he had first used his powers. He froze in place, his eyes widening a little at the thought. He hadn't actually thought about that day in along, long time. In fact, there was little he remembered about it, save for the pain, the fear, and the howling of the winds as it ripped the house, as well as his foster parents to shreds...
But, as much as he didn't want to relive his past, he knew that he would have to sooner or later. And, having it be Liz, who most likely ha a tragic story as well, it didn't seem so terrible a thing to share it. Kasim beig there also put him at ease,... the smile never left that man's face.
Sighting deeply, Levi set his sandwich down, wiped his hands on a clean napkin, and took a log sip of his coffee. "I was in my mid-teens..." he began, his eyes dark as he remembered. "I was an orphan, move from Greece with a fine couple form Nebraska. My foster father..." He closed his yes for a second. "He liked me a little too much, and.... attacked me."
Levi stared down into his reflection within his cup of black coffee. "He died," he whispered gently. "With my foster mother and most of the small town I lived in."

Liz slowly placed her sandwich down the smile fading from her face. She gave him a pained expression. >> "He liked me a little too much, and.... attacked me."<< Liz froze abit looking down at her plate silently.
A little too much? she frowned weakly "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to bring up anything painful for you.." she felt guilt right away for even mentioning it. The tale also brought up her painful past, they both seemed to share the same painful memories that probably haunted them to this day. She paused a few moments looking up at him "We all have our...pasts..just don't let it bring you down Levi. I'm sure there are better times ahead for you, trust me" she smiled at him. Her being positive? it was a rare occasion but, she could do it.
"I know we don't know each other that well Levi" she finally said "But I know we are going to get along and if you ever need any help or need to talk, don't hesitate at any time to find me" she sipped on her chocolate milk. She knew what it was like. The loneliness and burden of it all.

Levi looked up at Liz as she spoke, looking deeply into her dark eyes. He saw much in their depths... this poor girl had been through just about as much, if not more, in her life than he. He could see it, could sense it. He was finding himself getting closer to her with every passing second. Maybe she could be the first friend he had in a very, very long time. A smile slowly spread across his face and he sat back, taking another sip of his coffee. "Thank you, Liz," he said, his voice sincere. "I really, really appreciate that."
Draining the rest of his coffee, Levi let the dark memories recede into the back of his mind once more, once again finding comfort in the good company of Liz and Kasim. "I almost forgot how hungry I was... now where was I," he asked with a chuckle, picking up his sandwich once more, taking a bite. "What about you, Liz? When did you first realize you had your powers?"

>>"Thank you, Liz," he said, his voice sincere. "I really, really appreciate that."<<
she smiled thoughtfully at him finishing off her sandwich "No worries really..." always trying to sound like she didn't care as much as she actually did to others. She wanted to be there for people but she was pretty scared of letting them in.
>>"What about you, Liz? When did you first realize you had your powers?" << she looked up hearing this biting her lip nervously "uh..." she laughed quietly "It's not..that interesting of a tale uh you know..." she paused "When I was a kid...around 11 my powers started...to appear...and one day a group of kids were teasing me...I just lost control...and...took out a city block...killed ..." she paused, it still bothered her "Quite abit of people" she cleared her throat "I didn't really remember much of it, I use to have blackouts when my powers manifested" she trailed off falling very silent now.

Levi listened quietly, chewing on his bite of sandwich as she spoke. It appeared they had much more in common than he had first believed... they both killed innocents, caused major destruction. When she fell silent, Levi gently set down his sandwich... and without any hint of fear, gently reached out and gasped her hand, squeezing it. Without speaking any words, he conveyed he knew exactly how she felt, how horrible it was to have that kind of weight on your shoulders. The weight of the innocent souls her powers took that day, just like the ones he had taken when his powers had manifested.
When she looked at him, all he offered was a smile of understanding, his doe-brown eyes soft and gentle, full of understanding and compassion. "... that was back then," he said at last, releasing her had as his smile broadened, showing off his dazzling set of pearly-white teeth. "All we have to look forward... and enjoy peanut butter and banana sandwiches!" He chuckled, picking up his sandwich and taking a big bite for emphasis.
"I'm still intimidated by the size of this place..." Levi continued after a moment, finishing off his first sandwich to take a bite of his big, red apple with a juicy crunch. "I mean, thank God Kasim was there at the base of the elevator... man,I don't even think you can call it a 'shaft'.... well, if he wasn't there, I would have been hopelessly lost. Its like a citadel down here. I'm just glad he and I have rooms on the same level."

Liz sat there silently stirring her spoon in the pudding cup beside her before in shock feeling him reach over and squeeze her hand she looked up at him in shock her deep and dark eyes had a shine to them now. Both of them knew at that moment they both had the same woes, the same guilt of the past. The shame of it. As they watched each other in silence, an understanding almost.
>>"... that was back then," << He gave her a sweet smile finally letting go of her hand. She smiled sweetly at him for one moment all her defenses were down. >>"All we have to look forward... and enjoy peanut butter and banana sandwiches!" << he added cheerfully and took a bite of one. Liz smiled letting out a chuckle "Thats all I think I'll need" she added biting into another one.
>>"I'm still intimidated by the size of this place..." << he began biting into his apple and talking. The conversation on a much lighter topic.
>>I mean, thank God Kasim was there at the base of the elevator... man,I don't even think you can call it a 'shaft'.... well, if he wasn't there, I would have been hopelessly lost. Its like a citadel down here. I'm just glad he and I have rooms on the same level."<< She smiled at this "Kasim is a good man, and he is always there if you need a hand" she looked over to Kasim smiling. "You will get used to the size of this place trust me. It's not as bad as it looks. Just be thankful you don't have to share your room with a messy, inconsiderate red jerk..." she muttered under her breath, still trying to forget about him...she really couldn't..

Kasim let the two speak while he grabbed himself a glass of milk and one peanut butter sandwich. He knew how nice it was to find something in common with someone in this place, especially if you were unique like Liz and Levi. He was quiet as they talked, and he cut his sandwich into four little triangles.
When they both recounted their stories of how their powers came out...He couldn't help but look up. A sad smile overtook his usually good-natured grin, and he down-casted his eyes at his plate. Just what do you say to two people who had accidentally killed so many when it wasn't their faults?
>>"All we have to look forward... and enjoy peanut butter and banana sandwiches!" <<
"I'll drink to that." Kasim said, finally speaking, and he rose his glass of milk in a cheer before taking a sip. Liz said a few kind words about him. "Thank you Liz. It's good to feel appreciated by those I'd take a bullet for." He grinned. "Cuz, you know, suits are as expendable as the clothing their named for around here. But it's my lot, and I'd be glad to dive in front of a bullet for...most of you. And if your rooming situation is that bad," His face momentarily changed to a serious expression, "You can come sleep in mine for now. I have a cot I can sleep in. Bed'll be yours."

Levi wondered who the red person Liz was talking about could be, and what kind of troubles she was having with them. It must have been pretty intense seeing that Kasim was even nice enough to offer his room. But he decided against asking, figuring he would find out sooner or later. "You know, if you needed to do that," he said, looking from Liz to Kasim. "I could always take Kasim into my room."
Smiling warmly, he looked over at Kasim and chuckled. "I don't mind sharing my bed with you..." His eyes widened to the size of dinner plates realizing what he had said the moment the words left his lips, flushing bright red. "I mean my room with you, sharing it with you...." The temperature within the cafeteria rose a little, the air becoming a little thick with humidity. "Oh, good Lord in Heaven, you know what I meant." He said with a sigh, closing his eyes to grapple his emotions back under his control, returning the room to normal. "God can I stick my foot in my mouth or what...?"
