Time: 8:35 am Date: Aug 9 Place: Entrance to BRPD Status: Open
Levi watched the countryside pass by through the cab window as the driver drove him through the outskirts of Trenton. The weather was sour, the sky thick with gray clouds that sprinkled a chilly drizzle down onto the landscape. Levi sighed, knowing that with just a moment of concentration he could change things... but he wouldn't. Not that he couldn't, but he hated to use his powers, if if it made his day a little brighter.
Sighing deeply, his leaned back against his seat, casting his gaze up to the roof of the cab. He had to admit he was a little nervous... he had been nervous ever since his old boss hooked him up with a connection with the BRPD, assuring him that it would be the best place for him, to help him control his uncanny ability. Despite the promises, Levi still felt nervous. What if he was asked to use his power? What if he hurt someone? No... he wouldn't allow it. He just couldn't. The weight of the past was burden enough. He didn't need any more innocent lives on his hands.
Blinking, Levi's thoughts returned to the present as the cab pulled to a stop. "Here ya go," the driver said, looking over his shoulder at his passenger with a devious look. "Kinda dressed up to be going to work at a waste management plant, aren't ya?"
Levi blinked again and looked out the window... indeed, they were in front of a waste management plant, the high steel gates closed to them. "Maybe..." he replied, handing the cab driver his fare before nodding a thank you. "Guess I'll find out."
Stepping out from the yellow cab and onto the pavement, Levi buttoned closed the coat of his suit. The driver fetched his fare's suitcase and duffel bag from the trunk, handing them over before r-entering the cab and driving off. Levi watched the tail-lights of the retreating car for along moment before shrugging his shoulders and walking up to he intercom set on a pole beside the gate.
Blinking a few times, Levi looked the contraption over, noting the camera lens focusing on him as he pressed the button. "Um... Agent Pluvian reporting in," he said, arching a brow.
"Welcome Agent Pluvian," said a garbled voice from the small speaker. "The lobby is through the doors up the driveway. Have a good day."
"... yeah, you too..." Levi replied as the gates creaked open, allowing him to trudge through the drizzle to the entrance. Making his way inside, Levi allowed himself a few minutes to look around. In all appearances, he was actually in a waste management facility, and for a moment, thought perhaps he was at the wrong address. Then, he was approached by a guard in uniform, who smiled at him and led him to a circular crest of some sort set into the floor. "Keep your hands and arms inside the ride at all times," the guard said with a smile when Levi stood in the circle's dead center before walking away.
"Wh..?" Levi was about to ask when he felt the floor shudder.
Gasping, Levi clutched his suitcase to his chest as he began t be lowered down into what he could only call a labyrinthine honeycomb of a complex. The walls were made of metal and concrete, the lighting fluorescent and industrial. Blinking at the astonishing height he was being lowered from, Levi realized that the waste management facility was just a front for something much, much deeper. And, as frightening and mystifying as it all was, Levi realized hat perhaps someone here would be able to help him.

Kasim rolled his shoulders back a few times, trying to shrug off the stiffness in his shoulders. His bald black head was shining in the halogen lighting and his goatee was freshly combed and groomed. After a long night of standing watch over his charge followed by a brief sleep, he was quite understandably stiff. It would also probably help if the standard issue black suit wasn't so tight in the chest...Bah. He'd worry about his tailoring problems later. He took out the file he carried beneath his arm and read the cover: Levi Alton Pluvian.
The reason why Kasim wasn't headed back to the floors below already is that another new agent was arriving. It seemed like the Bureau was having new faces and people coming out of their ears. Kasim was very grateful for being selected to welcome a new agent; not only did it keep him up and out from the rather depressing charge of watching over Arkins, but Kasim had heard that the new agent was formerly FBI. It gave him a feeling of camaraderie and maybe brotherhood towards whomever it was that would soon be coming down on the elevator.
Kasim entered the room where the elevator would lower and waited, his hand clasped behind his back. He didn't have to wait long. Barely a moment had passed before Kasim heard the whir of the elevator lowering down, bearing the new agent to his new home.
At first look, the new agent looked understandably nervous with his bag clutched to his chest. Kasim looked very much the same way when he descended on the same elevator into a world of the fantastic and phenomenal. Kasim slipped on a sincere smile and took a few steps forward as the elevator came to a stop.
"Levi Alton Pluvian I presume?" He asked. He tucked the file back under his arm and offered his hand. "My name is Agent Chionesu, or Kasim. I'd like to welcome you to the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. I'm here to make sure you get settled in."

Levi looked around him as the lift slowly lowered into a smaller room, the ceiling hissing closed over him. Blinking, he heard a voice and looked up seeing a handsome, dark skinned man standing there waiting for him.
>>"Levi Alton Pluvian I presume?" He asked. He tucked the file back under his arm and offered his hand. "My name is Agent Chionesu, or Kasim. I'd like to welcome you to the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. I'm here to make sure you get settled in."<<
"Yes, I'm Levi Pluvian... er, Agent Pluvian," Levi stuttered, realizing he was clutching his bag to his chest. With a grumble he rearranged his luggage so he could extend a free hand to his new co-worker. "It's a pleasure to meet you Agent Chionesu..."
Shaking the man's hand with a firm grip of his own, Levi returned the sincere smile with a soft chuckle. "I must admit, I first thought that perhaps I had come to the wrong address," he said looking up at the door set into the ceiling as he stepped off the lift. "I stand corrected... but I think all this may take some getting used to. I wasn't expecting anything near this... elaborate."

Kasim's genuine smile stayed as Levi spoke. He had learned early at the Bureau that a pleasant demeanor and a smile went a lot further than most emotions. Plus, a new person didn't want to be immediately thrust forth into doom and gloom. That came later.

"Yes, well...I saw that you're formerly FBI, and I think you know how uh...Touchy our government is with certain secrets." He shrugged. "Some of the agents have been a little downhearted in the past over the fact that we're being hidden by an alleged garbage facility but hey...It doesn't smell down here." His smiled broadened and he released his hand. "I was...maybe still am an FBI agent but I was transferred here. So far it hasn't been bad at all...If you were wondering."
Kasim turned to look at the doors he had entered through. "Through those doors lie the rest of the Bureau...So what'll it be? A grand tour, a visit to the cafeteria, or would you just like me to take you to your room?"

So this guy was FBI too? Levi smiled at that, finding an instant camaraderie with him with that realization alone. The smile never leaving his face, Levi pondered over what he should ask of Kasim, knowing that he should probably get used to the layout of the place.... but it was so very huge! How in the world would he ever be able to learn how to find his way around?
"Oh, man... I don't even know," he said softly, throwing the long strap of the duffel bag over his shoulder with a sigh. "I'm sure I'm in for a slew of more surprises.... and this place is so big! Maybe it would be best to have the grand tour, starting with the cafeteria and perhaps where the nearest bathrooms are... and then maybe I'll punker down in my room for a while."
He wanted to ask so many more questions... like who was going to help him control his powers and how. But, he thought it best to keep quiet for now. Kasim seemed to be a forthright man, and Levi was sure everything would play out in time. All he needed to do was be patient.

"Perfectly understandable, Mr. Pluvian. I have to admit, when I first came here, I became lost on my first day. Took me three hours to find anyone who could help." He smiled, "But I will make it my personal goal to ensure that won't happen to you. It kind of leave one a bit put-off from this place." Kasim motioned for Levi to follow him and stepped to the doors he had entered through before opening them, leading out to the hall lined with display cases and windowed rooms.
"This is the main corridor where mostly everything communal is accessible. Kasim nodded to the right to a recessed doorway. "Those lead to the restrooms, if you're so inclined to use them now, I'll wait out here.
"Those are the meeting and strategy rooms there," Kasim nodded to the left. "And straight ahead through the swinging double doors are the cafeteria. It's usually very busy from seven to eight-thirty, eleven to one-thirty, and five to seven. After that, the crowds taper off, and it's quieter. Or you can ask that food be delivered to your room. Kind of like a glorified room service." Kasim paused. "Several agents like to wait until after the rush to eat in the cafeteria, and it's open twenty-four in case you have a midnight craving for a peanut butter and banana sandwich or something of the like."

Levi's brown lofted slightly... three hours? This place had to be bigger than he had even first imagined. He would have to explore the complex one of these days... As far as he knew, this place may be his home for many years to come. And as far as he could tell, he had some good neighbors. Kasim himself seemed to be a very good natured man... and not bad on the eyes either.
>>"This is the main corridor where mostly everything communal is accessible. Kasim nodded to the right to a recessed doorway. "Those lead to the restrooms, if you're so inclined to use them now, I'll wait out here."<<
"Oh please... call me Levi," Levi said as Kasim began the tour, leading him down the hall to point out the nearest bathrooms he grinned when Kasim offered to wait outside if he had to relieve himself, and let out a chuckle. "No, no... I'm all right for now," he answered. "I just figured that their location would probably be a good thing to learn first off. You never know when nature may call."

"Good Lord in Heaven does THAT sound good," Levi chuckled, the very thought of food making his stomach grumble. "Haven't had one of those since I was a kid!"
Grinning, Levi contemplated the complex for a moment. "My guess that this place is more than just a base of operations then?" He asked, looking over at his guide. "I mean, the magnitude of it all, it has to be. And to have a cafeteria open at all hours of the night? And to have my own room... thats something else that I wasn't expecting. Heh... not to mention being lowered down through the floor to enter the place. That was a trip and a half in itself!"

Kasim was getting ready to take a breath and continue his tour-guide act when Levi spoke.
>>"Oh please... call me Levi."<<
"Then I must insist you call me Kasim." Kasim smiled warmly. It was nice to meet someone on casual terms right from the start. Kasim was still calling Arkins 'Mr. Arkins' and so far the guy hadn't corrected him. After being in a system, i.e. the FBI, that required 'Sirs' and "Ma'ms' and 'Mr.s' and "Ms.s,' it was refreshing to find someone so comfortable with being casual. "In fact, I respond to most names. 'Hey idiot' and 'Mr. Clean' are some of my favorites." He smiled softly.
>>"Good Lord in Heaven does THAT sound good," Levi chuckled, the very thought of food making his stomach grumble. "Haven't had one of those since I was a kid!"<<
"We can stop by and have one right now, if you'd like. Breakfast rush is still moderate...but maybe I could get us a shortcut from one of my contacts in the kitchens. And plus, peanut butter and banana sandwiches are great if you want to build muscle. Lots of protein, plus the fruit to help your body deal with it...or something. Food gestation isn't my forte." He grinned.
>>Grinning, Levi contemplated the complex for a moment. "My guess that this place is more than just a base of operations then?" He asked, looking over at his guide. Heh... not to mention being lowered down through the floor to enter the place. That was a trip and a half in itself!" <<
"Oh yes. This is where all the action happens that doesn't include the actual physical fighting of the supernatural. Though I have heard of two incidents that would lead me to think differently." Kasim paused and rolled his shoulders back, stretching once more. "I was surprised when I first came here that everything I could basically ever want was here...or they could at least get it here without me ever leaving." He smiled again at Levi. "I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, but when I first came here and no one was around at two in the morning...I used to ride the elevator up and down like a little kid. One of the senior agents...Francesca Guidicini I think it was, caught me and told me to go bleep around somewhere else. Censored for your hearing pleasure." Kasim paused. "You and I are actually on the same level room-wise, so if you ever want to ride the elevator up and down at night, come get me if I'm not on detail, and I'll be your lookout.
"Now, shall we continue with the tour? Or food?"

Levi just grinned at the man... not only because he knew that yes, they were going to get along just fine, but that they were rooming on the same floor. and of course, when Kasim admitted what he had done in his past with the elevator, Levi couldn't help but laugh. "You know... I just may hold you up to that some day," he said with his trademark, charming smile... his brown eyes sparkling with mischief. "Always good to have a good man to keep watch while causing trouble!"
Levi paused when Kasim asked if he wanted to eat once more, this time mulling it over better. The last thing he wanted to do was show how much of a glutton he could be, despite his physical fitness... but he WAS hungry, even though h wanted to meet with his superiors and discuss what plans they had in mind to help him get a grip on his abilities.
Levi then thought about spending some time with Kasim... and although part of himself wanted his friendship so badly, he knew that it would probably be best to keep the relationship as purely professional as he could make it. At least, maybe, until he wrested control of his powers. But, i was just a P.B. and banana sandwich between co-workers... right? If they were going to be fighting together, may as well eat together. "You know what... lets go get something to eat," he said. "Its been a long morning, and a long trip getting here. And to be honest, my stomach is howling at me."

Liz frowned feeling her stomach. Ever since she got pregnant she never had some many cravings her whole life. She wasn't a big etheir as well but, she decided it was best to go to the cafeteria and get something to eat. She was thinking peanut butter and jelly sandwiches...anything smothered in chocolate maybe? who knew..she just needed to eat.
Liz made her way to the cafeteria seeing two men in the hallway as she passed by, that Kasim fellow was one of them she recalled, the other one looked like new blood. She sighed another poor soul caught in the B.P.R.D she shook her head walking over getting some chocolate milk , which she didn't have since she was a kid. She grabbed it from the fridge before it landed on the floor spilling everywhere. Liz fumed holding out her hands angrily in front of her, now in flames. This was the worst day...just one accident after another. Earlier on she nearly knocked into a car on a simple trip to the mall for some clothes, she almost fell down the stairs and she had such a craving for chocolate milk which was now laying in a puddle all over the floor...
"Great" she replied “Just great”

Levi saw the woman coming down the hallway and offered a smile ot her as she passed he and Kasim, turning the corner and heading into the cafeteria. Turning his eyes back to Kasim he chuckled and began to follow her. "Better now than never I guess," he said, walking through the doors with a gentle sigh. Looking around, he noted just how busy the place was. So many faces! He wondered.... were they all different? Different like he was?
Then, a crash brought his attention to the very same young lady who passed them in the hallway. She was standing over a puddle of chocolate milk, her eyes angry... her hands.... flaming??? "Holy mother of Gertrude!" He exclaimed softly, eyes wide... a chill breeze suddenly pushing through the doors to make them squeak on their hinges, the luminous fluorescent lights above flickering slightly.
Dammit!! Levi chastised himself, closing his eyes and getting his emotions back in check. He HATED being startled... luckily they were all underground, and the only hint of his ability could be felt by the slight wind and electrical interference. Last thing he needed to was to knock someone down with a bolt of lightning his first day!

Liz fumed watching the chocolate milk in anger as it began to bubble abit before her attentions were drawn away from it hearing a small cry >>Holy mother of Gertrude!" she looked over seeing the man from the hallway as she looked above her the lights flickering, a sudden gust of wind within the place.
She closed her eyes calmly as the flames withdrew from her hands walking over to him "....was that you?" she asked pointing to the lights and watching him, her bright brown eyes seemed to be on fire. With the tone of her voice not being to friendly it was hard to tell if she was going to freak out on him or tell him off or who knows...she seemed very ticked off her chocolate milk was gone to waste..

Levi backed up a step, the blue glow of her flaming hands illuminating his gentle, doe-brown eyes,, making the hints of deep, forest-green undertones brim to the surface. She... how could she even think it was him? They had only just bumped into each other! She didn't know him from Adam! Yet, she had powers of her own it seemed, for the fire that consumed her hands, despite emitting a radiant heat, didn't burn her!
Despite the fact that he was quite intimidated by her voice and glare, he felt an instant kinship with the woman.... she was just as 'different' as he was, albeit in her own way. ".... maybe...?" He replied, his voice soft, looking to Kasim for support. But, then again... why keep it a secret here, the place where he had come to in his desperate search for help? He closed his eyes before sighing and looking down at his shoes as if ashamed. "... yeah, it was." He said at last, his cheeks flushing. "Sorry about that... still have issues with my self control. My little quirk didn't come with an instruction manual."

She listened to him stammer out an apology for what he did. Reminding herself to well of her own burden she had with controlling her powers. She still had issues with it, even to this day. Liz suddenly felt guilt for taking her anger out on the man.
A kind smile crept on her face, the flames disappearing quickly from her hands "It's hard isn't it?" she replied her voice going kinder all the sudden, all the anger leaving "Controlling it...don't apologize" she held out her hand "I'm Elizabeth Sherman, just call me Liz" she saw he was staring at her hand not shaking it "Don't worry...I wont burn you" she chuckled lightly.

Oh, Lord... she had caught him staring at her hand. "Levi... Levi Pluvian," he replied, reaching out gingerly to take her hand in his, shaking it, marveling at how cool her skin was to the touch.
It was probably the most fantastic thing he had ever seen, the blue flame rippling over her exposed hands, yet frightening all the same. But, as frightening as it was, he felt closer to her just by seeing it. "Yes... it's very difficult," he replied, smiling gently at her soft tone, feeling relieved that she as no longer directing her anger at him. "Been spending my whole life trying to believe that it didn't exist, to hide it..."
Levi sighed gently as she released his hand before adjusting the strap of his duffel bag on his shoulder. "But, as you can see, and as you probably know... you can pretend it isn't there as much as you want," he shrugged. "Doesn't make it any less real. Especially when it's a part of you."
Levi then looked at Kasim, hoping he wouldn't be afraid of him now, even though what had just happened was only a tiny fraction of what he was capable of. "Big reason why I joined the BRPD," he said, turning to look back at Liz. "To learn how to live with it."
